Buries showed his athletic prowess being able to start the first two games at 3B before starting in CF during the 3rd game. Long term he's probably more apt to play 3B/LF, but that's farther down the line. Buries has a medium frame with strength and lean legs showing length. Defensively, as mentioned, he's got the ability to play both in the infield and outfield. At 3B, he showed quick feet and ability to create good angles on ground balls with lateral quickness. The arm is compact and loose playing fringe-average with a quick release. His accuracy is better when he gets a chance to line up his feet, but he showed the ability to make the top ball play on the run. In CF, he showed good range and similar fringe-average arm strength using his strong speed to track balls in his area. He gets down the line well (4.28-4.38 H-1st) and that athleticism projects to help him impact the team in multiple ways. At the plate, he holds his hands even away from the body with a balanced, even set up and a high back elbow. He uses a quick knee tuck as the hands stay creating a compact swing with a flat barrel and able to keep his hands inside the baseball. If the bat can continue to make gains he's got an impressive future.
Uncommitted. 6-foot, 160-pound, athletic, utility man that can give a coach multiple options. Has a solid approach at the plate that can control the barrel and hit the ball to all fields. Crates excellent leverage in his swing with excellent bat to ball skills. Currently he is a gap to gap hitter, but his power stroke will develop with age and body maturity. Buries has proper smooth fielding mechanics and arm action. He exhibits solid lateral range and instinctive jumps on balls to his right and left. In the double header Vs. Santiago, Buries finished 4 for 7 with 1 run, 1 RBI, & 1 HBP.
Uncommitted. We saw Buries several times last season and he looks the part of a kid who was serious about his physical development. A graceful outfielder with an above average arm, Buries is a nimble athlete that takes good routes to the ball and shows great body control. At the plate, he uses a balanced approach with high hands to drive the barrel through the zone. Shows good pitch recognition and posses very good plate coverage as demonstrated when he fouled off borderline pitches.
