5-foot-10 175-pounds. This was the first full start I have been able to see from Jones. The toughness and composure really stood out with runners on base. He managed to work out of multiple jams, and kept the Titans offensive from getting any type of momentum shift. The FB was mostly 83, but ran it up to 85 a few times. It has some arm side run, and late sink that gives hitters trouble. He throws a CH straight off his FB at 77-78. The outer half FB, and CH down and away combo is extremely tough for hitters to pick up on. He mixes in a big breaking ball at 73-74, and when he throws it back foot to rightys he can get high swing and miss numbers. Jones will be a big lefty arm to keep an eye on this summer and into the playoffs.
3/15/23
5-foot-10 170-pounds. One of the top uncommitted left handed arms in the region will continue to succeed, pumping strikes, and attacking hitters. Jones knows that the FB on the outer half is one of the tougher pitches for a righty to hit off of a left handed pitcher. He can hit that spot at any time, and has really developed his off speed pitches to fit well with his low-mid 80’s fastball. The FB velo will continue to climb for Jones, and if he can continue to work on the CH to rightys he will continue to lead one of the most successful 6A teams in the state.
