Committed to Mississippi State out of Seminole State JC (OK).

2015 All-Eastern Kansas League - 2nd Team
2/7/16 - Halter has a tall, skinny frame with quick twitch actions to his game. Halter stays balanced and exhibits bat speed. He showed off one of the stronger arms in the infield. He is the son of former big leaguer Shane Halter and committed to Kansas State.
7/6/14 - Halter can flat-out defend at shortstop.  In the games we saw he handled the average plays with ease and when challenged to his right or left he showed range and a strong, accurate arm.  He has a thin, athletic 6-foot-1 frame with plenty of room to fill out.  Halter is the rare high school shortstop that is likely to stick at that position at the next level.

4-10-2018:  6’2/165, Slender frame with wiry strength. Although he seemed to be playing through some kind of injury, Halter’s athleticism still shined through. Offensively, there are a lot of moving parts including a large leg kick and long stride followed by his head traveling forward and down before he launches his hands. High end bat speed is created in part by excellent separation. Shows swing and miss, as he did with multiple mid-upper 80s fastballs. Ran two 4.7s down the line, laboring to get out of the box, as the potential injury could have been a factor. Defensively, his footwork was clean and light and his hands played soft and easy. When trying to come across the bag and clear the runner on a double play turn, he tried to drop his arm angle and he pulled the throw. Later in the game, he made a hard play look easy on a slow roller to his right. Also a prospect on the mound, Halter has thrown two innings this year. (Urban)
