2/14/15 - 6-foot-2, 175-pound prospect immediately passes the eye test with athletic frame, athletic player with tools, right-handed hitter hits from an open stance, gets to square with a short stride, hands are loose and quick, shows power potential, flashed bat speed, 91 mph exit velocity, good speed, 6.75 60-yard dash. Defensively, shows athletic actions, good body control, soft hands, has ability to throw accurately on the move from different arm angles, very good arm strength at 87 mph across the infield, has the tools to be a high-level shortstop at the next level. As a pitcher, with very projectable and athletic frame, uses shorter arm action and works through a ¾ to high-3/4 slot, arm shows quickness, has big arm-side run on his fastball that he has difficulty locating in the zone at times, fastball sat 83-85 mph touching 87 on one occasion, throws a slurvy type breaking ball at 68-70 mph that is erratic, 81-83 mph changeup shows good arm-side run and he throws it for strikes, changeup would be more effective with bigger velocity difference off fastball. Coleman has only been pitching for a year and has big potential on the mound as he continues to develop.
2/16/14 - Coleman is a 6-foot-1, 168-pound prospect with athletic build with room to continue to fill in. He continues to improve measureables each time we see him. Defensively, he showcased soft hands with quick and fluid feet and good carry on his 82 mph arm across the infield. He showed good body control but had difficulty throwing accurately on the run on the slow roller play. At the plate, Coleman starts with a crouched/open setup and has made some adjustments in shortening his stride. His quick hands and explosive use of lower half generate good barrel whip through the zone and it’s evident he has gotten physically stronger as he drove the ball with regularity in his round, ran a 7.24 60 yard dash, 91 mph tee exit velocity, potential to be high level 2016 prospect.
8/25/13 - 6-foot-1, 155-pound prospect with lanky build, projectable athlete, showed a +2 mph increase in arm strength from July event at 80 mph with less accurate throws across the infield. At the plate, hits from narrow/open setup, long stride, uses lower half well to generate bat speed, line drive type hitter with occasional pop, registered 86 mph tee exit velocity (+6 from previous event).
7/9/13 - 6-foot-1, 155-pound prospect with lanky build, athletic prospect with good projectability, shows good lateral movement and soft hands, good body control, shows the ability to throw from different arm angles with short arm action, good arm strength for young prospect at 78 mph across the infield, accurate arm. At the plate, hits from a tall, open stance, squares frontside with a long stride, uses good lower half torque to create some barrel whip through the zone, gap to gap approach, ran 7.19 60 yard dash, 80 mph tee exit velocity, solid 2016 prospect.
8-1-2018: Athletic frame 6’2/195. Low three-quarter slot, lands well closed. Controlled his delivery and repeated. Average effort with some deception. Aggressive to his armside with a running fastball at 88-91 mph and a 2300-2400 spin rate. Mixed in an 82 mph changeup. (Seifert)
