Comments
Johnny is a lean/wiry 5-foot-10 162 pounds with fast twitch actions. He ran an impressive 4.01 home-to-1B. Offensively- At the plate Johnny is all business with an aggressive, attack the zone mindset. He starts with an even stance with feet just outside the shoulders with a slight upper body lean, bat angle at 30 degrees. Slight bat waggle into load, creates good separation. Uses a controlled leg kick that gains ground and is down in time. Body position drops some during back leg/hip rotation but he absolutely explodes on the ball, accelerating through the zone. Short and quick stroke with a high finish. Exit velocity was an impressive 90 MPH. Explosive top 1/3 of the lineup type hitter. Defensively- In the outfield, Johnny has a controlled approach with proper breakdown steps. Uses a shuffle and turn to get into his throw. Arm strength was at 85 MPH but may even be better with a more assertive crow hop. Throws stayed on a line and were accurate.
