Positional Profile: OF/C Hard not to like the approach in the box, never gets cheated. Body: 6-0, 175-pounds. Strong, compact build, evenly distributed strength throughout. Hit: RHH. Slight leg kick with powerful lower half. Slightly uphill path to the ball, line-drives off the bat with a mostly pullside approach. Power: 94.1 max exit velocity, averaged 82.2 mph. 331’ max distance. Continues to show plenty of power, especially to the pullside. Arm: RH. OF - 85 mph. Long, over-the-top slot with carry. Defense: Athletic defender with natural actions. Works through the ball well and moves well laterally. Run: 4.45 runner H-1B.
4/30/21
Has the look of a throwback type player that has plenty of current strength in the hands and barrel. Buening is up on the plate in the batter’s box and simply challenges pitchers to throw the ball in. he has shown plenty of juice to the middle to pull side throughout the year. He shows a very controlled load of the hands and doesn’t try to do too much with the bat as the swing plane shows some tilt in the path. Buening had a 2B while walking twice and also delivered the game-winner in the bottom of the 7th inning with 2 outs.
3/16/21
Buening enjoyed another multi hit game with two knocks on the night. One of those hits was a double to the pull side that barely missed leaving the yard. The recent move in from Nevada continues to be a key cog in the Senator lineup and does a nice job staying though contact. Buening shows a mostly middle of the field approach but hammered an elevated fastball on the inner half of the plate for his double. There is some present strength in the hands as he creates plenty of juice with a slightly tilted bat path.
6/10/19
Stocky. 5-foot-8 150, Buening is a baseball player. It appears that his future will be behind the dish. His quick release with short draw accompanied by present arm strength make it a natural fit. He displayed capable infield as well as outfield action with enough arm for the “hot corner” and right field. Buening showed a good combination of strength and bat speed in a compact stroke at the plate with a simple approach.
