2/9/20 Pitching Delivery Notes: Blum shows a high leg kick and maintains a balanced posture as he throws from a ¾ arm slot. He shows a quick arm and a clean arm action. Fastball: The fastball was 81-84 mph and showed life through the zone. Curveball: His breaking ball was 66-68 mph and showed true curveball shape and spin at nearly 12/6 shape. Pitch showed good depth. Changeup: The changeup was 70-72 mph. Pitchability: Blum shows good feel for his three pitch mix. The curveball shows to be an advanced pitch for his age. Will definitely add velocity as he matures and adds strength.
6/03/19
Body Type: 6-foot-2 145-pound thin frame. Mechanical/Delivery Notes: Tall over the top arm action. High leg kick with some lower half involvement but still more in the tank. Lands slightly closed off. Overall smooth delivery. Fastball: 78-82mph with apparent arm side movement. Makes pitch difficult for hitters to make solid contact with. Curveball: 66-67mph with 1/7 movement. Currently an average offering but can be developed into an above average offering with more sharp movement to it. Pitchability: In the zone most of the time with both pitches. Displays potential to locate on both sides of the plate with both pitches.
2/17/19
Body Type: His long arms and lanky frame make him appear bigger than the list 6-foot-1, 145-pounds. Athletic body that shows that way on the mound. Mechanical/Delivery Notes: Clean, polished and repeatable. Advanced for his age. Big leg kick and inward turn out of the windup. Athletic lower half and engages his core. The arm is quick and works out of a high ¾ slot. Fastball: Generates natural cut on the ball. Locates on both sides of the plate. Mostly sat 82-83 mph. Ran it up to 84 mph. Plenty more to come. Curveball: Already a swing and miss type pitch. Tight spin at 70-71 mph with â…™ shape. Consistently in the zone from both the windup and stretch. Changeup: Similar cutting action to his fastball. Looked comfortable. Arm speed kept the pitch at 73 mph. Summary: One of the top 2022s that we have seen this winter. Excited to see in game. Doesn’t look the part of a freshman. Showed three above average pitches for his age. Going to garner a lot of attention moving forward.
Body Type: 6-foot-1 145-pound prospect. Swing Mechanics: Has a pretty basic balanced setup with a slight cast of his barrel and an uphill bat path. Hit: Average bat to ball ability. Power: 76 mph exit velocity. Offensive Projection: Shows solid athleticism. How he develops strength and adds weight to his frame will be the main influence on his long term offensive projection. Field: In the outfield he plays through the ball pretty well and shows good footwork and a clean arm action. Throw: 81 mph from the outfield. Run: 4.54 home to first. Defensive Projection: Could potentially be an option at all three OF spots depending on how he develops his speed and raw arm strength.
