Shaver didn't disappoint on the day as he was one of the big standouts at the North East Senior Games. At the plate Shaver barreled up every ball to all parts of the field. The swing was compact, showed some pop to the opposite field with a homerun and proved to be a tough out for opposing pitchers. In the field Shaver was all over the place gunning out a runner at third, showing off his arm strength that has taken major strides. At 5 foot-10. 170 pounds Shaver will have a lot of eyes on him from college programs.

Physical: 5-foot-10, 170 pounds; Athletic, muscular build. 7.11 runner in the 60. Offensively: RHH. Even setup, with feet shoulder width apart; bat positioned at a 45 degree angle. Short take back with the hands with a moderate leg kick for timing. Slides weight forward pre-contact. while showing a strong lower half. Showed a direct swing path with a two handed finish. More line drives than flyballs and groundballs with a peak exit velocity of 95 MPH via Trackman. Defensively: Starts with a compact setup; uses prep hop while showing active feet. Hands are out in front while funneling to the hip before transfer. Moderate arm circle while using various arm slots. INF - 81 MPH. OF - 86 MPH.

Shaver, a 5-foot-7, 170-pound OF/SS had an impressive first day at the New York State games. Looked good in the outfield with a quick loose arm action, kept the throws on a line with a top outfield velo at 86mph. At the plate the swing was loaded with good torque in his lower half. Worked pull side for majority of his round, had a good launch angle on the baseball with a couple leaving the yard. Good looking uncommitted talent that should have a lot of interest from college programs.

Shaver, a 5’10 170lbs MIF/OF had a solid overall day at the Niagara Preseason Uncommitted showcase in Niagara Falls, NY. Was a standout in the field topping out at 86 mph in the outfield displaying a short quick arm action while keeping the ball low and accurate. In the infield the feet have improved since the fall with quicker actions and a stronger arm which got up to 82 mph.
The bat is a big standout in Shaver’s game. During his round of BP, Shaver worked up the middle to opposite field staying quick and on plane with his barrel. In the intersquad the speed played a factor beating out a couple infield singles as well as showing good range in the outfield. Will definitely be a name to look out for as the season is just around the corner.

Maddox Shaver recently reclassified to a 2023 and is a player our staff was eager to get another look at. The 5-foot-10, 170-pound shortstop’s bat is what usually catches your eye first but today it was his defensive work. He was moving well side to side, fielding balls cleanly out front and the arm was live across the diamond, getting up to 84 mph on a cold night. He ran a 7.04 60-time and put together a good round from the right-side, showing the ability to hit line drives and also lift for power at times. Top exit velocity on the day was 92.3 mph.

Shaver, 5-foot-10, 170-pounds, showed well at the plate. He has a strong lower half, and made consistent hard contact in both of his rounds. Hits the ball where it's pitched, and shows pull side pop. He doesn't get cheated at the plate but is under control with a 95 mph exit velo. Shaver is going to be an interesting follow as we will see him in Panama City Beach, Florida next week.
8/07/20
Middle infielder with a balanced approach and feel for the barrel during BP, short stroke with line drive approach and worked more to his pull side, minimal movement in body but gets the hands started and the bat moving. Defensively hands worked at short, moved well side to side, athleticism there and more to come once he fills out. Ran a 7.36 and can see that get shaved down. Like what he brought to the field with actions on both sides, don't forget about this one moving forward.
