Selected to participate in the 2016 East Coast Pro Showcase and 2016 Area Code Games.

Came within two full count walks of a perfect game on Monday afternoon, settling for a complete game shutout and no-hitter in front of over 20 scouts.  Ironically McMahon's was not the only no-hitter as a pair of opposing pitchers combined for a no-hitter as well in the 1-0 win for McMahon's West Chester Rustin squad.

The 6-foot-1, 185 pround right-hander may be a bit undersized by top five round standards but he sat 92-94 all evening with an effortless, loose high 3/4 arm slot.  While his secondary offerings lag behind in development McMahon used them well for seven innings.  His fastball was commanded down in the zone all afternoon resulting in nine ground ball outs to go along with 10 strikeouts.

McMahon's curveball sat 74-75 with average bite.  The changeup at 78-81 is thrown at near fastball arm speed, but lacks significant movement at this point.

McMahon had some of the best velocity of the day, sitting 92-94 in his first inning, but settled in at 91 after that. His secondary stuff, which includes a 78-80 slider and 76 changeup, is still developing, but he has a lean frame and quick arm. He allowed two runs on three hits and struck out five. 

The 6-foot-1, 170-pounder sports a loose, clean arm action and projectable, low effort delivery. Pitched out of a three-quarter slot with a fastball at 87-88 in his first inning, settling at 85-86 for the next two, and located it down in the zone. He could use to tighten his 11/5 curveball at 68-69, and, while he didn't feature his mid-70s change-up much, it has a chance to be a solid pitch for him.

2020 DRAFT: The 6-foot-2, 205-pound righty was off to an outstanding start to the 2020 season with 38 strikeouts against five walks in 25.2 IP and a 1.05 ERA. His current solid average 84-87 mph slider was much improved since last summer with the USA CNT and he also used his mid-90s riding fastball up in the zone more often. With the ability to touch 97 with his heater, McMahon can also slow down bats with a plus sinking changeup in the 82-85 mph range and generates numerous ground balls in the process. Despite modest success his freshman and sophomore seasons with a combined 3-3 record and 4.25 ERA in 74.2 IP with 30 BB and 71 SO, McMahon has three above average-to-better pitches and projects as a starter at the next level. He will likely receive consideration beginning somewhere in the middle of the first round.

2/22/20: Walked two and struck out nine against the Gators while showing good velocity early in the game as he was up to 96 and pitched at 93-94 mph. McMahon showed an average to below changeup and slider that were effective when down in the zone. Overall, he is right-hander with good arm strength and an early Day Two draft selection. McMahon could likely be successful in a bullpen role where his velocity could play up even further in the future. (Freeman)

6/30/19: Impressive first-ever look at the 6-foot-2, 205 pound righty originally from West Chester, PA. Worked quickly from the first base side of the rubber, landing cross-body, but in good direction to the plate. Inverted W arm action to a three-quarter slot. Ran his fastball up to 97 mph, mostly sitting on 95 while ranging 93-97. Consistently kept the ball down in the zone to both sides of the plate with good tilt and some sink. In the future he must elevate his fastball on occasion to move the hitter’s eyes and could also back RHHs off the dish a bit more by throwing inside to them more often. This approach may allow his fringy 83-85 mph slider to play up. His best secondary offering was an average changeup which showed late dip to his armside at 81-85 mph. He repeated the pitch for above average control. At this point, despite plus-plus fastball velocity, McMahon profiles as a pitch to contact, mid-to-back of the rotation starter at the next level. However, the development of his breaking pitch and the skill for throwing inside to RHHs will ultimately determine his ceiling. (Seifert)
