Comments

8/10/21

Physical: The strong, durable 6-foot-1, 200-pounder offers brash confidence. 7.55 runner in the 60-yard dash.

Offensively: RHH - Taller, upright setup with the hands operating flush on the shoulder, barrel tipping for the trigger. Initiated his swing using a pronounced leg-lift stride to drive the barrel through a flat, top-hand oriented path into the zone. Recorded a 55% fly ball rate (via Trackman) with some lift after impact while weight-shifting into a stiff front side. Recorded a T94 mph bat-exit velocity at his peak en route to a 336 foot batted ball distance for doubles power. Good rotational athlete that could throw on the brakes at any point to unleash energy to the front of the plate.

Defensively: The first baseman featured a moderate posture with a strong lower half controlling the movements around the bag. Bent over at the waist over the toes, fielding cleanly off the middle of his body. Shuffled right left to the target, releasing with good intent across the diamond from a H ¾ slot (good separation, 86 mph arm).

Pitching: RHP - The righty began from the middle, left side of the rubber using quick pace to get down the slope with rhythm into footstrike. Created early hip coil, loading up for efficient actions and drove the hips with authority to get off the backside, into release at a H ¾ slot. The FB ranged from 85-87 mph with good carry to the plate and minimal barrels against. Attacked early in counts, getting ahead and mixed a sweeping 74-76 mph SL at 12 inches HM average (via Trackman).

2/06/21

Physical: Large and durable 6-foot-1, 200-pound frame with a blend of athleticism in the actions. 7.64 runner in the 60-yard dash.

Offensively: RHH - Upright, narrow setup as the hands bounced on the shoulder pre-load. Utilized a leg lift stride in order to initiate the hands through a slightly uphill path into the hitting zone; recorded a peak bat-exit velocity of 86 mph per Trackman Baseball with loft present in the swing (64%). Generated a top batted ball distance of 310 feet with an interesting power ceiling (28.7 G’s of rotational acceleration).

Defensively: The first baseman flashed average footwork and developing feel around the bag from a narrow setup at the fielding window, used a soft glove hand over the toes with an accurate, strong 85 mph throwing arm across the diamond.

Pitching: RHP - Started from the middle of the rubber with above average tempo in the delivery, noticeable hip coil in a high leg lift and really races down the mound with intent out of a high ¾ slot. FB ranged from 82-84 mph with good extension (6.31 feet average) and increased IVB (22 inches) allowing for play up above the belt. Mixed in an occasional two-plane breaker with feel for spin (-11.7 IVB / 9.5 inches HM) showing out pitch potential down the line.

6/15/20

Physical: 6-foot-0, 200 pounds; strong, athletic build. 7.06 runner in the 60.
Offensively: RHH. upright, open stance with hands relaxed in front of back shoulder; gains ground with leg kick while hands are quiet. aggressive lower half against a strong front side with quick to the ball with a flat barrel path; 15 degree bat angle into the zone via Blast Motion. Sike is able to produce 24.5 G’s of force with an on-plane efficiency of 50%.  Solid contact with gap to gap pop; average Trackman exit velocity of 87.1 MPH; peak exit velo was 95 MPH.
Defensively: Uses prep step; athletic footwork playing through the ball routinely. flips the glove down fielding into the body with seamless transfer.

2/23/20

Showcased a large, physical 6-foot, 200-pound frame with easy strength in his actions and present athleticism in his movements. The primary right-handed pitcher sat 83-85 mph out of a repeatable, high ¾ arm-slot from the ear using a hip coil in the setup with a high leg lift. Mixed in a 71-73 mph curveball with feel for spin and 11/5 shape down in the zone. The right-handed hitter begins with a narrow, slightly open stance utilizing a leg-lift to initiate a slightly uphill barrel path through the hitting zone. Displayed a strong top hand while hitting into a stiff front side during batting practice. Had occasional timing issues while trying to stride and hit at the same time. With improved tension at landing allowing for more consistent strength upon launch, an already solid 80 mph bat-exit velocity will naturally improve. Ran a 7.32 60-yard dash. The first baseman demonstrated adequate feel around the bag with a moderately low center of gravity and soft glove hand working out in front allowing for an accurate 82 mph arm-strength across the diamond out of a high ¾ arm-slot.
