4.21.16: DiCesare has an athletic frame and throws from a low three-quarters slot with a drop and drive delivery on the mound. His arm action is long and loose and he generates velocity with normal effort. His shoulders are closed and level and he lands closed with an athletic finish. His fastball sat 84-86 early in the game, touching 87, with hard late run. He tailed off to 82-83 in the fifth inning. His changeup had heavy fade and good armspeed at 76. He threw a sharp 11/5 curveball that ran 67-69. He commanded the ball well and attacked the zone. At the plate, DiCesare has quick hands and a short stroke with good bat speed and gap power to all fields with easy pull home run power. He showed a good approach, using the entire field.
3.21.16: DiCesare is an athletic defender with very good first step quickness at third base. He throws from a high three-quarters arm slot with a short, loose, accurate arm with above average arm strength. He has soft hands and clean exchange. DiCesare hits from the right side and has a quick bat, with pull home run power and gap power to all fields.
5.19.15: DiCesare has a great frame and a swing that generates significant power to his pull side. Defensively, he has the tools to be a very good third basemen as he has good first step quickness and solid hands as well as an outstanding arm, which he got to show off on a few plays during the game. DiCesare has also begun to pitch as Chantilly’s closer. On the mound, he throws from a high three-quarters arm slot and has a drop and drive delivery. He has a loose arm that generates easy velocity. He pounded the strike zone in his inning of work with a fastball that sat 85-86 and touched 87 with some late armside run to it. He also threw a slider with decent 11/5 snap to it that ran 69-72.
3.26.15: George Mason commit. DiCesare has a strong, athletic frame. He has a good base and good balance to his swing. His hips are explosive and he is quick to the ball, generating great bat speed. 11/8/14: DiCesare is a 5-foot-11, 180-pound, third baseman that hits from a athletic/balanced stance. Good vertical stacking, high hands, smooth load back with a slight arm bar, short stride, full extension. Line drive approach, stays in the center of the field, able to utilize the whole field. With more strength has the ability to be a run producer as a doubles hitter. Had an exit velocity of 82 mph off of the tee. In the field, DiCesare he had outstanding actions , soft hands, and a good feel for the position. Moved well laterally, good first step movements, was light on his feet. Proper angles to the ball, good glove usage, ability to be a plus defender.
8-8-2018: 5’11, 195 pounds. Athletic frame with an advanced feel for controlling his body. Displayed above average command all summer by only walking two batters in 36.2 IP. Sinking FB sits 89-90 mph (1800-1900 spin rate) and comes out of a slot. Also features a SL at 78-81 (2000-2300) with tight rotation and depth. Throws CH with good arm speed and it produces consistent fade at 80-81 (1900). Put together an All-Star summer and should continue to pitch with a high level of command for George Mason this upcoming spring. (D Jurik)
