VA/DC Scout Blog

Listed at 5-foot-10, 175-pounds, Morabito has added physicality to his athletic frame. Strength is easily visible throughout the frame. Defensively, Morabito played shortstop where he showcased his athleticism and arm strength. He made a couple of plays on slow hit ground balls where he showed ability to throw from multiple slots with arm strength. At the plate it is a square stance, simple stride landing on line, and short compact swing. Level path to contact and swing stays in the zone through extension. Had a single in his first at bat on a fastball that ran in on him, then followed it up with a no doubt homerun out of center on a two strike slider. In his third at bat he attacked early in the count for a RBI single back through the middle. Morabito showed some aggressive, instinctive baserunning early in the game. Intriguing potential draft prospect that has a solid offensive skill set and some defensive versatility.

Morabito is a Virginia Tech commit. Played centerfield in this game, his speed was on display and he showed a great first step on a ball, running down what felt like a sure double to deep right-center at one point pretty easily. At the plate, short swing, level to contact with extension up and through the ball, shows power to pull side with gap power to all fields. Athleticism shows in his swing.

Outside of a DCSAA tournament game last spring, Saturday was the first time we have seen Morabito since Future Games in 2020. Since that time Morabito has added a ton of strength to the frame. At the plate Morabito starts in a square stance. Hands are loose and show rhythm into the swing. He is short to contact with high end hand and bat speed through the zone. Morabito is an offensive first prospect that offers the athleticism and defensive versatility to allow him to move around to multiple spots in the infield and outfield. He is a hot name right now in the state and it will be interesting to see if he continues to trend up as we get into the high school season.

VA/DC Scout Blog

Morabito is a Virginia Tech commit with an athletic 5-10 frame that has some strength present and some projection left. At short, has some quickness and lateral agility, above average hands fielding and a clean exchange, throws from a high three-quarters arm slot with a short free arm action, average to above average arm strength. At the plate, slightly open balanced athletic stance, low leg kick stride, smooth load back, hips rotate with violence and he maintains good lower half balance. Very short and very quick to contact, slightly uphill line drive swing with strength at contact and extension through the ball. Swing generates natural loft and carry, showed good approach using whole field, has easy gap power to all fields. Speed is a tool on the bases, 6.7-6.8 runner.

PBR Future Games

5-foot-10, 175-pound athletic frame. Morabito is a high end runner, turning out a 6.79 60 at the Future Games and has been down as low as a 6.68 this June at a Top Prospect Games event. He is very aggressive and gets excellent jumps and reads on the bases. After reaching base versus the Carolinas, Morabito proceeded to swipe second and third in about a 3-4 pitch sequence. At the plate Morabito starts from a square athletic stance, short level path swing, and has line drive tendency working gap to gap. He gets out of the box well putting pressure on the defense on just about any ball put in play. Defensively Morabito showed off the arm strength on the workout day, posting a 85 mph infield velo, proving he has the arm strength to stay on the left side. Feet work well around the bag and has some positional versatility in the infield.
