NOBLE VS CLAREMORE
NOBLE
OVERALL RECORD - 25-11
RECORD AGAINST THE FIELD - 2-3
HOW THEY GOT HERE: The Bears finished 5A-1 with a strong 13-1 record, winning their district, and a 25-11 overall record. They cruised through their regional play beating Classen SAS 20-0 and then Western Heights in back to back games with 18-2 and 15-0 finals. The regional victory punches their ticket for the 5A State Tournament and a rematch with Claremore from a matchup just under a month ago that saw Noble win 5-1.
PLAYERS TO WATCH:
CF Bryson Carey (2025; EOSC)
SS/RHP Weston Randolph (2026)
INF/P Colten Williams (2025)
UTL/P Jackson Steely (2026)
1B/P Trent Shortes (2026)
RHP Isaac Ethridge (2027)
Coach Hughes and the Noble Bears have competed through a pretty tough schedule setting themselves up to have success when it matters most. Winning District 5A-1 also gave them the opportunity to host their regional and sweep into the state tournament by a combined score of 53-2 - peaking when it matters most. They have a mix of experience and youth throughout hte roster, but the returning talent that knows what it takes to win this time of year is extremely valuable. Offensively, the Bears are led by senior CF and leadoff man Bryson Carey. His ability to get on base and pressure defenses on the basepaths sets the tone for the group as a whole. Juniors Weston Randolph and Trent Shortes typically work out of the middle of the order but also lead the squad on the mound. Switch hitting junior Jackson Steely offers versatility, playing all over the infield, and hits in the middle of the order as well. Finally, senior Colten Williams has thrown valuable innings on the mound for Noble this spring as a battle tested starter beating Norman North a little over a week ago. The tough schedule, featuring both Edmond Santa Fe and Choctaw earlier in the year that will compete for the 6A title, is paying dividends down the stretch for Noble as they look to pull from the toughness and experience in a return trip to the state tournament.
CLAREMORE
OVERALL RECORD - 31-9
RECORD AGAINST THE FIELD - 3-2
HOW THEY GOT HERE: Coach Gelnar and the Zebras finished 2nd in 5A-4, a 10-2 mark, just behind Pryor but still made them a regional host. They got things started by jumping all over Tulsa Nathan Hale by a score of 23-0 before facing Coweta. They won 5-1 thanks in big part to Daniel Harrington's performance on the mound - a complete game 3 hitter allowing just an unearned run. They got the Tigers again and won a tight 2-1 ballgame and punched their ticket to the State Tournament.
PLAYERS TO WATCH:
P/UT Dan Harrington (2026)
P/3B Zach Hale (2025; Arkansas-Rich Mountain JC)
P/SS Marcos Sallee (2025; Arkansas-Little Rock)
OF/P Brad Hoisington (2025; Northeastern Oklahoma A&M JC)
OF/P Curtis Waters (2025; Eastern Oklahoma State JC)
C/INF Jax Van Valkenburg (2027)
LHP Kellen Gaede (2027)
Coach Gelnar and the Zebras have been resilient throughout the year in route to a 31-win campaign. Since April 15th, they are 12-2 with the only blemishes being against first round opponent Noble and 6A Sand Springs. An experienced group, Claremore is an experienced team that knows what it takes to win this time of year. Arkansas-Little Rock signee Marcos Sallee has shown his athleticism, and value, playing shortstop while also having some of the most electric stuff in the state on the mound. Junior Dan Harrington has stepped up throughout the year and emerged as a top of the rotation ace with the ability to beat anyone. The mid 80s lefthander has shown pitchability to stay off the opponents barrel. Offensively, leadoff man Curtis Waters is the engine of the offense as his ability to get on base for Sallee and sophomore Jax Van Valkenburg is a big part of what makes them so dangerous. Speaking of Van Valkenburg, the physical sophomore has worked his way into the middle of the Claremore lineup and has shown maturity in his ABs that are beyond his years. Further, the switch hitter has shown athleticism and versatility that is valuable, especially this time of year, finding time at catcher, shortstop, third base, and can play first base as well. Playing their best baseball when it matters most, the Zebras look to continue their hot streak in a state tourney run.
ELGIN VS BISHOP KELLEY
ELGIN
OVERALL RECORD - 28-7
RECORD AGAINST THE FIELD - 1-2
HOW THEY GOT HERE: Finishing 2nd in 5A-2 with a record of 12-2, the Owls welcomed Del City and El Reno as regional host. Their offense came alive in game one winning by a score of 21-1 setting up a matchup with El Reno. Facing a high quality arm, the offense once again came alive with six runs in the first four innings before adding on late and winning 11-6. Finally, they punched their ticket to the State Tournament with a 7-0 win once again over El Reno.
PLAYERS TO WATCH:
RHP Tres Lorah (2025; NOC Tonkowa)
RHP/OF Ritson Meyer (2026)
RHP/SS Mason Thornton (2026)
RHP Jaxon Southerland (2027)
UTL Brody Morrison (2026)
C/RHP Grady Thomas (2025; NWOSU)
1B/RHP Lucas Young (2026)
OF/LHP Kade Hilliary (2026)
UTL Kason Meyer (2027)
Coach Garrett and the Owls return a bulk of a roster that now makes the state tournament for the third consectutive year. Many of which are now juniors and have valuable experience that they will tap into in what they hope will be a deep tourney run this season. As well rounded a group in the tournament, they have the guys that can excel in all three areas as far as pitching, defense, and the ability to produce runs. On the mound, they have had valuable innings from sophomore Jaxon Southerland, senior Tres Lorah, and junior Ritson Meyer. Each have shown the ability to beat high quality opponents and give Coach Garrett options in how he wants to attack the state tourney. Offensively, leadoff hitter Mason Thornton has proven to be the engine to the Owl offense and when he finds his way on base it really sets the table for Brody Morrison, Ritson Meyer, Grady Thomas, and Kade Hilliary. Meyer is planted in the middle of the lineup and boasts some big time power while showing the ability to capitalize on an opponent's mistake elevated in the zone. Elgin is a tough squad, battle tested throughou the year, and can beat teams in multiple ways which will be extremely valuable in their first round matchup with Bishop Kelley.
BISHOP KELLEY
OVERALL RECORD - 30-9
RECORD AGAINST THE FIELD - 0-0
HOW THEY GOT HERE: Battle tested through the year, the Comets won District 5A-3 with a record of 13-1. In game one as regional host, they beat McAlester by a final score of 12-5. Jumping all over Edison 19-0 set BK up to punch their ticket with just one more win. Up against McAlester again, the Comets won a tight final game by a score of 6-5 and earning their way to the State Tournament.
PLAYERS TO WATCH:
RHP/OF/C Blake Rogers (2025; Butler CC)
OF Isaac Anderson (2026)
UTL Nick Modovsky (2025)
RHP/INF Cooper Frazier (2025; Eastern Oklahoma State JC)
RHP/OF Max Gipson (2027)
INF Bradley Hasting (2028)
RHP Mack Conroy (2026)
Coach Frazier and the Comets have played one of the toughest schedules in all of 5A, both in the state, and taking on traditional powers in Arkansas and Missouri. With that tough schedule, they are playing their best baseball when it matters most having won 12 of their last 14 games. A steady mix of youth and experience, the battle tested group has been led on the mound by Cooper Frazier. Throwing in their biggest games, the senior right hander has excelled in big spots and gives BK the ability to beat anyone. The depth on the mound is also going to be valuable for the Comets as junior Mack Conroy could start, senior Blake Rogers could contribute, or sophomore Max Gipson could compete in a variety of roles. Offensively, Bishop Kelley can score in bunches averaging 9.4 runs per game over the last 6. Blake Rogers leads off but junior LHH Isaac Anderson has shown to really hit out of the 2-hole and use the entire field. Freshman Blake Hastings has hit near the top or middle of the lineup throughout the year and flashes as mature an approach through the middle of the field as you'll find. A battle tested offense with a top end ace, the Comets should be one of the tougest outs in the 5A field.
PRYOR VS CARL ALBERT
PRYOR
OVERALL RECORD - 27-11
RECORD AGAINST THE FIELD - 1-3
HOW THEY GOT HERE: Winning district 5A-4 with a final record of 11-1, the Tigers earned an opportunity to host. In the regional's first two games, Pryor jumped all over their opponents winning by a combined score of 31-1 before setting up a second meeting with Booker T Washington. In this final game, offense was much more difficult to come by as they won a tight one by a final score of 2-1 and punching their ticket to the State Tournament.
PLAYERS TO WATCH:
LHP/OF Riley Hurst (2025; Eastern Oklahoma St.)
SS/P Gavin Roberts (2026)
C/P/1B Clinton Stohler (2026)
3B/SS Sergio Banuelos (2025)
OF/P Brock Ward (2026)
P/OF Jaron Bailey (2026)
Coach Osborne and the Tigers are battle tested both in the state and against neighboring states throughout the spring. Coming into the year, the biggest uncertainty was arguably on the mound but that has ultimately resulted in a strength in the season's biggest moments down the stretch. Juniors Jaron Bailey and Gavin Roberts have each thrown big innings and give Pryor an opportunity to beat anyone. Senior Riley Hurst is a huge piece of what the Tigers do offensively, working out of the leadoff spot, the Eastern Oklahoma State commit instantly pressures opposing defenses with his legs. The senior, along with junior Gavin Roberts, can steal bases at a high clip from the top two spots in the order. The heart of the Tigers order is tough and experienced with Clinton Stohler, Brock Ward, and senior Sergio Banuelos all returning and able to drive in runs. A tough schedule throughout the spring in addition to the experience and leadership returning from years past will make Pryor a team to watch this week.
CARL ALBERT
OVERALL RECORD - 28-9
RECORD AGAINST THE FIELD - 4-2
HOW THEY GOT HERE: The Back to Back champions found their way back to the State Tournament after finishing 13-1 in 5A-1. The Titans pitched and played defense at a big time level throughout the regional, winning the first two games by a combined score of 24-0, and setting up a second meeting with Lawton. In the regional's final game, Carl Albert won a 1-0 game begind Declan Murphy's CG 3-hit shutout, striking out 13, and driving in the game's only run punching their ticket back to the State Tournament.
PLAYERS TO WATCH:
SS/P Declan Murphy (2025; Eastern Oklahoma State)
OF Davonte Jones (2025)
1B/OF Jordan Hawkins (2026)
C/RHP Mason Avery (2026)
OF Boston Holland (2027)
3B/P Beau Davis (2027)
SS/3B Nate Deleplank (2025)
Coach Whiteley and the Titans are back in the state tournament looking for a 3-peat of the 5A State Title. Replacing a number of graduating seniors off the last two title teams, the Titans have reloaded as well as having returners step up and continue the standard that Coach Whiteley and his staff have put forth over the last few years. They are led by senior Declan Murphy, their number one on the mound and getting better as the year goes on. In his last outing to punch the teams' state tournament ticket, Murphy turned in a complete game shutout with 13 punchouts. Junior Mason Avery has also thrown big innings for the Titans this year and gives them a chance to beat anyone along with sophomore Beau Davis. Offensively, the group as a whole has continued to become more cohesive and they've proven they can win tight, low run games as well as put up a bunch of runs in a hurry. At the top, sophomore Boston Holland and junior Jordan Hawkins have set the table for the middle and shown the ability to both hit and work lengthy ABs that result in walks. The middle of the order is as scary as anyone in the tournament with Nate Deleplank emerging in the middle of the order consistently adding extra base hits, aforementioned Beau Davis as a physical force in the cleanup spot, and seniors Davonte Jones and Declan Murphy each using their experience to produce quality at bats and drive in runs. Following back to back title runs, the Titans have reloaded and know what it takes to win this time of year.
DUNCAN VS DURANT
DUNCAN
OVERALL RECORD - 33-6
RECORD AGAINST THE FIELD - 3-2
HOW THEY GOT HERE: The Demons won 5A-2 with a perfect 14-0 mark and continued that hot streak throughout the regional. Scoring double digit runs in all three games, Duncan beat John Marshall in game 1 by a final score of 16-0 before beating Guthrie in back to back games by a final of 10-4 and a 10-2 win that punched their ticket into the State Tournament.
PLAYERS TO WATCH:
CF/RHP Eli Ramirez (2025; Oklahoma)
RHP/SS Brisco Smith (2025; Oklahoma)
RHP/1B Jayce Ramirez (2026)
OF Preston Giles (2025; Murray State JC)
3B Colton Rother (2025)
Coach Smith and the Demons have been a team to know throughout the year and emphasized that with their 14-0 mark in district play this year. They are one of the deepest teams in the entire tournament with the ability to hit for some power but also show to be one of the most athletic lineups in the state that can pressure teams on the bases. Senior Eli Ramirez is an electric player in the leadoff spot with a mix of power and speed that can hunt extra base hits as well as the extra bag on the bases. Seniors Preston Giles, Colton Rother, and Brisco Smith all bring experience as they've produced from the middle of the lineup throughou the year. The lineup is talented and experienced, but the Demons pitching staff has been the difference maker throughout the year. Led by OU signee Brisco Smith, his low to mid 90s FB gives them an opportunity to beat anyone and not have to score many runs in the process. Junior Jayce Ramirez got off to a good start this spring, but has only been better as the spring has gone on pitching at a particularly high level when games meant the most. Eli Ramirez also adds a low 90s FB and high upside along with Colton Rother to add valuable depth. The Demons are a team that has consistently played at a high level throughout the year, but have turned it up a notch down the stretch and could dogpile to end their season.
DURANT
OVERALL RECORD - 17-12
RECORD AGAINST THE FIELD - 0-2
HOW THEY GOT HERE: The Lions were road warriors in Collinsville after finishing 3rd in 5A-4 with a 7-5 district record. Peaking at the right time, Durant jumped all over Shawnee with a 10-0 score before facing host Collinsville. They won by scores of 8-1 and then 4-0 to punch their ticket to the State Tournament.
PLAYERS TO WATCH:
RHP/OF Aiden Diviney (2027)
SS Holdan Robinson (2026)
3B Cole Robbins (2026)
C Eli McClure (2026)
OF/RHP Lucas McClure (2026)
CF Ryer Jones (2025)
Coach Parsons and the Lions put together one of the most impressive showings in the state sweeping their way through the regional. It's been an up and down year but they've saved their best baseball when it matters most. Sophomore Aiden Diviney has been a consistent contributor at the top of the order for the Lions and sets the tone for the group as a whole. In regional play, he was also a difference maker on the mound just as he was throughout the year. Along with Diviney, junior Lucas McClure has been at the top of the rotation throughout the year and those two arms give them a chance to bat anyone. Offensively, the Lions have shown the ability to score runs in bunches despite some youth in the lineup. After Diviney in the leadoff spot, a steady influx of talented juniors have a combination of power and speed that can make the offense dynamic. SS Holdan Robinson has been especially hot of late tallying multi hit games in 3 of the last 4 while switch hitting 3B Cole Robbins has produced runs in a hurry from the middle of the lineup. Eli and Lucas McClure, also juniors, have are also in a place to produce. Like most, Durant got production from the bottom portion of their order when they had the most success, both wins over Collinsville a week ago, and will be a key to make some noise in the state tourney this week. As they proved a week ago, they're playing their best baseball when it matters most.
