March 21-23: Scrimmage Scout Notes
March 27, 2023
Max Clark, OF, Franklin Community HS, 2023 Vanderbilt University recruit
A large crowd of professional scouts flocked to Franklin Community to watch Max take the field for the first time in 2023. The 6-foot-1, 200 pound Vanderbilt recruit put on a show in his last few rounds of batting practice, launching numerous, towering home runs including putting multiple balls into the football complex that is located beyond the RF wall. During gameplay, Clark did not see much to hit in his first three trips to the plate, drawing three consecutive walks. Clark stole a couple of bases on the day with ease, with his elite foot speed being no match for the opposing battery. Finally, in his last at-bat of the night, Max got a fastball to hit early in the count and proceeded to launch an opposite field home run. From this look, Max’s swing adjustments from this past offseason are seeming to pay huge dividends. He’s able to get on plane earlier than before, allowing for more power to the opposite field than he has ever shown, while still showing the ability to get the barrel to the front of the zone to elevate to the pull side.
After drawing 3 walks in his first 3 trips, Clark goes opposite field for the first #PBRBombSquad of the year. 💣💣

Hudson Devaughan, RHP, Mooresville HS, 2026
An impressive look at a ‘26 righty with a high ceiling. The uncommitted 6-foot-2, 160 pounder is an easy mover that moves down the mound with control and casual intent. The arm action is clean and quick, producing a fastball that sat 86-89 T 90 mph twice. His best pitch in this look was his sharp, 73-76 mph breaking ball that he was able to land and use as an out-pitch, causing uncomfortable swings from right-handed hitters. Devaughan is undoubtedly one of the top arms in Indiana’s ‘26 class after big performances at the Preseason All-State showcase and an impressive varsity debut.
