The Owasso Regional will kick off on Tuesday April 30th featuring a couple of old rivals and a Moore squad that is vastly improved over the past year.  Owasso has arguably the best pitching staff in the state and will look to hold off Moore and a Broken Arrow squad that has proven to be a tough out throughout the spring racking up 22 victories in 2024.  We breakdown each team's record, players to watch, and a deeper look at each team as they head into this week's regional and try to make it to the state tournament next week.

Coach Turner and the Rams enter the 2024 postseason as one of the hottest programs in the state winning 18 out of their last 20 and finding their groove on both sides of the ball.  With the Rams it always starts with their starting pitching and they can attack their opponents with three of the top left-handed pitchers in the state.  Farrell has had one of the most dominate careers throughout his four years of taking the rubber for the Rams and Luke Williams has emerged as one of the top power arms in the state.  Ranallo has worked his way back to healthy and has joined the mix in the starting rotation with strong command and high upside.  They can turn to a plethora of arms after those three but the emergence of Jaiden Gustafson finishing out games has been a big lift for the Rams and his use of a plus slider.  Offensively they have multiple prospects that can single handedly beat you with their ability to get hot.  Auschwitz has some of the best raw power in the 2025 class and Luke Williams’ bat to go along with his work on the mound has made him a player of the year contender.  Carter Miller has emerged as one of the better top of the order bats in the state and guys like Bodie Amberson and Reace Martinez are starting to heat up to provide depth to the lineup.  With Owasso’s ability to miss bats at a high level and play strong defense, they are still one of the toughest outs in the state right now and are built to make another deep run this May if they can continue their hot level of play.

Coach Dobson and Tigers have put together one of the more impressive resumes throughout the 2024 campaign picking up 7 Power 25 wins and a fourth place finish in the tough 6A-4 district.  The Tigers had to reload the roster after losing multiple impact players off of last year’s squad but have found a strong mix of contributor up and down the lineup and boast one of the better defenses in the state.  They entire the postseason hot with a 10-3 record since the start of April and will look for that to carry over into a strong showing this week.  The past few years the Tigers have entered the postseason a little beat up and having to mix and match their way to the state tournament and this year it appears they head into the regionals largely healthy.  Offensively they have a knack for stringing together base hits to put up runs on the board and can mix in a little power with Bates and Condry showing strength at contact.  Oliver Beford and Natale are all tough outs and Tarr has done a strong job of setting the table at the top.  On the mound they have a group of arms that have started for them throughout the year and the key will be to pound the zone to allow their strong defense take over.  If they can keep the bats hot and force other teams to beat them with the bats, the Tigers have the type of resume and skills to make some noise this week.

MOORE LIONS

Coach Teel and the Lions made some noise in the mid season where they saw wins against Westmoore, Sand Springs, Edmond North, Deer Creek, and Calumet in a two week stretch that put the rest of 6A on notice.  They have since come back down from that mid season high and enter the postseason with a 7-9 record since the beginning of April.  Even with their recent struggles, the Lions have the type of pedigree to make some trouble in this week’s regional thanks to their ace in Cooper Howe and the emergence of freshman Grady Glidden on the mound.  These two have proven themselves to work deep into games against some of the better lineups giving the Lions a real chance this week.  Offensively, Moore has some nice pieces with the long-producing JayShaun Sykes at the top of the order and Ty Talkington who has shown to be one of the tougher outs in 6A.  Crue Riley and Maverick Gardner have provided a nice punch in the middle of the order and don’t sleep on the talented Izaac Mia at the bottom.  Moore has proven themselves to be able to compete at the highest levels of 6A baseball in 2024 and will look to capture some of that magic they had earlier this spring to the regional in Owasso.

CAPITOL HILL REDWOLVES

OVERALL RECORD: 9-26

DISTRICT RECORD: 0-14

POWER 25 WINS: 0

Coach Corley and the Redwolves have certainly taken their lumps in 6A in 2024 but were able to pick up 9 wins against schools that are more on their level in 5A and 4A.  They were able to eclipse double digits in runs on 4 occasions this season and their roster seems to be one of the larger ones they’ve had over the course of the past couple of years.  It has been tough sledding for the Redwolves for the past couple of seasons in 6A but continuing to grow the program in numbers and get their younger players experience in the postseason should continue to try to push this program forward in the coming years.
