Today we will conclude our 2019 previews with a look at a few teams that we have got information on but only after publishing our full Region Previews earlier this month.

 

Park View (Sterling)
The Patriots are in Class 4 Region C and are members of a stacked Dulles District. The Patriots went winless in 2017 but showed improvement in 2018, winning a game and being more competitive in some of their losses. Park View will look to continue building on that improvement this spring and will be led by two-way player Bryce Hartman who will top the rotation and also should hit for average and some power in the middle of the lineup. Another key player will be catcher Quintin Van Sickle, who provides thump in the middle of the Patriot lineup. A key new face for Park View will be centerfielder Patrick Ryan, who will cover a lot of ground in the outfield and add speed to the lineup for the Patriots this spring.

Patrick Henry (Glade Spring)
The Rebels finished second in the Hogoheegee District in 2018 but surged in the Region 1D tournament to win the Region championship. Patrick Henry advanced to the State semifinals before Honaker knocked them out in a tight game. The 2019 Rebels are off to a 1-0 start with a blowout win over JI Burton last week. The Rebels return four key players including two-way player Isaac Eldreth, who is 13-1 with a 1.62 ERA in his career for PH and has hit over .400. Other key players coming back are catcher Landon Smithson and utility player Colby Taylor, both of whom also hit over .400. Also back will be middle infielder Josh Presley, who hit three home runs and drove in 26 runs last spring. A new face to watch for Patrick Henry who should see his role expand is Isaac Presley. Look for the Rebels to be in the mix to defend their Region D title and return to the State tournament at the end of the season.

Thomas Jefferson (Richmond)
The Vikings are in Class 3 Region B and advanced to the Region tournament in 2018 before William Monroe eliminated them in the quarterfinals. Jefferson is off to a 1-1 start so far this spring and have four key pieces back in their lineup this spring. Junior Davionne Johnson hit .510 in 2018 as a sophomore and fellow juniors Jelani Hale and Nicholas Hendrick as well as senior Teon Tiller are also coming off of seasons that saw them hit .300 or higher for the Vikings. A potential key to TJ's team this spring will be a pair of sophomores in Andrew Smetana and Gavin Hoyt, who could develop into contributors as the season progresses.
