9/22/18 -Another big winner from early in the JUCO fall season. Perdue, who showed a lot of potential and a big arm last year, has cleaned up mechanically and is landing more in line and working more under control, with less effort and the results were noticeably better command. The fastball worked downhill at 90-95 mph and while he is still somewhat closed, repeated well and was able to command to glove side and down. The slider showed above average potential, but overall, the noticeable improvement with, easy clean arm action will have him on the rise early on.
10/21/16 - + RHP Hunter Perdue (Grassfield HS, VA) came in after Adell and pitched two innings, allowing just two hits while striking out one. He sat 87-89, touching 90 with a slurvy breaking ball at 74 and 79-80 changeup.
6.1.15: Perdue has a long, three-quarters arm action from a 6’2/6’3 frame. He is quick and aggressive to the plate. He challenges hitters with a plus fastball that sits 87-89 occasionally topping at 90. His fastball has good arm side run and in the game he consistently induced groundballs with it. His slider and changeup were similar in velocity, both in the 76-77 range. The slider was the better of the 2 and he throws it more often, but he does have a feel for the change and was able to command it when needed. His slider has 10 – 4 break and when located down comes out of the hand on the same plane as the fastball. His change has depth and arm side run. Perdue was quick to the plate with runners on base working out of a slide step, but needs to get more comfortable fielding his position as he develops.
The UVA commit comes in at 6-foot-2, 170-pounds. Perdue is a lanky righty who throws from a three-quarters arm slot. He has a loose, quick arm, and a crossfire delivery that causes him to fall off as he finishes. His fastball has late sinking action. Perdue throws a change-up with good arm speed and late fade. His breaking ball is a down slider that will improve dramatically as he tightens it.
