Physical: Strong, projectable 6-foot, 185lb frame with feel for his body; 7.57 runner in the 60-yard dash.
Offensively: RHH - Starts from a balanced, slightly bent stance with rhythm in the hands at the shoulder; utilized a stretched “backload” into a coiled right drive leg, before initiating through a flat path into the hitting zone towards a stiff front-side. Recorded a mostly pull-side approach during batting practice yielding bat-exit velocities approaching 90 mph in the past via Trackman Baseball.
Defensively: Narrow, traditional stance from the crouch; shows off a soft glove hand working low to high “thumb up” through the low pitch. Pop times ranged from 1.95-2.03 with a quick release and immediate, replaceable footwork. Displayed occasional pre-catch rhythm, but did a good job staying under the waist with the momentum helping “drive” the ball to the target (73 mph arm, quick ¾ slot).
Physical: 6-foot-0, 185 pounds; strong, athletic build. 7.53 runner in the 60.
Offensively: RHH. Wide balanced base with feet even and hands starting back; lift and replace leg kick with relaxed waggle of hands. stays behind the ball with aggressive effort with a slight up hill path to the ball with some extension through the zone; 19 degree bat angle into the zone via Blast Motion. Haines is able to produce 5.3 G’s of force with an on-plane efficiency of 42%. solid fly ball contact to the pull side with developing power; average Trackman exit velocity of 73.23 MPH; peak exit velo was 86 MPH.
Defensively: Balanced and low to the ground; fundamental footwork getting in line to target on throws. minimal movement on sticks; soft glove with a clean transfer; short arm action with slight hesitation to a 3/4 release. 2.06-2.13 pop times. C - 73 MPH.
6-foot, 185-pound switch-hitter starts from a square stance and initiates his swing with a toe-tap stride from the right side of the plate. Left-handed swing is not as strong and should probably be eliminated. Showcased solid barrel awareness and the ability to create some backspin from the right-side. Registered an 87 mph bat exit velocity right-handed and a 78 mph bat exit from the left side. Showed improved foot speed running a 7.82 60-yard dash. Solid receiver flashed pop times of 2.15-2.24 on throws of 76 mph from the crouch.
6-foot, 180-pound switch-hitter showcased similar swings from both sides of the plate, but only swung from the right side in game action. Begins from a square stance and uses a toe-tap stride to initiate his swing. Displayed a line drive approach with a feel for the barrel. Registered a bat exit velocity of 81 mph and flashed above average defensive abilities behind the plate for an underclassman. Turned in pop times of 2.02-2.14 on throws of 73 mph from the crouch.
5-foot-11, 170-pound switch-hitter showcased well from both sides of the plate during batting practice. The natural right-handed hitter starts from a tall, square stance utilizing a toe-tap stride to begin his swing. Displayed feel for the barrel and ability to hit behind the baseball registering an 82 mph bat exit velocity. Left-handed hitter initiates his swing using a tall, square stance with a toe-tap stride. Demonstrated above-average feel for his weaker side, as he was able to square up balls consistently to the pull-side. Ran an 8.45 60-yard dash. Haines used soft hands while receiving to go along with quick, straight line feet to record pop times of 2.15-2.23 on throws of 71 mph from the crouch.
5-foot-11, 170-pound right-handed hitter starts from an open stance and utilizes a toe-tap stride to initiate his swing. Displayed an ability to stay inside the baseball with a feel for the barrel during a solid round of batting practice. Registered a 73 mph bat exit velocity and ran an 8.21 60-yard dash. Showcased pop times of 2.32-2.45 on throws of 68 mph from the crouch defensively. Developing skill set will benefit from strength gains and physical maturity.
