This summer, the best uncommitted Class of 2027 prospects will head to LakePoint Sports in Emerson, GA for the premier Prep Baseball Report Future Games. For the first time ever, the state of California will be bringing two teams: Team NorCal and Team SoCal. For the next three weeks leading up to the event we will be previewing each player that will be putting their talents on display in front of a plethora of college coaches from across the entire country.

Standing 5-foot-7, Jace Wooley is a right-handed 2B/SS from Cardinal Newman High School. The second ranked second baseman in all of California is also ranked as the ninety-sixth best overall player in the state, skyrocketing the ranks after an impressive sophomore campaign for Cardinal Newman.

During his sophomore season, Wooley hit to the tune of a .283 average across 60 at-bats.

In the field, Wooley flashed the glove with a .903 fielding percentage in 29 games played.

Wooley also showed some speed on the base paths, swiping 4 bags on the year.

One of Wooley’s best games came against Rancho Cotate on April 30th. On the day, Wooley went 2-4 with two runs batted in.

At the Future Games Tryout, all of Wooley’s talents were on display. Wooley ran a 7.11 second 60-yard-dash, had a max exit velocity of 97.3 MPH off the bat, and played a smooth infield. With his performance, Wooley was recognized as one of the all-around standouts of the event.

Wooley’s well rounded set of tools makes him a must watch player when he takes the field in LakePoint. The middle infielder's ability to play sound defense, have quality at-bats, and be a potential threat on the bases is a huge asset to Team SoCal.

“Jace Wooley, a 2027 INF/OF from Cardinal Newman, turned heads at the Prep Baseball Future Games Tryout in NorCal this past weekend. Standing at 5-foot-8 and weighing 185 pounds, his sturdy, athletic build delivers explosive strength with potential for further growth. Across the infield, Wooley fired throws at 89 mph, showcasing a lively arm, quick transfers, and polished footwork suited for shortstop or second base. In the outfield, he unleashed a 92 mph throw, combining accuracy with the ability to cover expansive ground through agile, purposeful strides. His defensive range shone brightly, allowing him to track balls effectively in both infield and outfield roles. At the plate, he recorded a max exit velocity of 97.3 mph (89.7 mph average) and a max batted distance of 351 feet, exhibiting a compact, powerful stroke with consistent gap-to-gap contact. Wooley ran a 7.11 60 YD dash during the running portion of the workout. There is a lot of power potential on Wooley’s bat, I think once he refines his approach he’s going to be a scary hitter. Wooley has a big summer coming ahead and will look to fill in on the field anyway he can, even talking to him after he might try pitching a couple innings. Wooley talks ak=ll over the field communicating with everyone around him, he’s a gamer.”- Hank LoForte, Associate Director NorCal
