The 14th annual Future Games took place on July 22-27 at LakePoint in Emerson, Georgia. Top uncommitted prospects in the classes of 2026 and 2027 participated in one of the most popular events each year.

For the first time ever, the state of California brought two teams: Team NorCal and Team SoCal.

We caught up with some of the state's standout performers to hear about their highlights on the weekend, overall experience at LakePoint, and what their recruitment process has looked like since the August 1st deadline has been reached.

Joseph Flores Jr., 2027, SS/RHP, Corona

Flores Jr. is a star both offensively and defensively, recording a 98.5 MPH exit velocity off the bat and a 90 MPH velocity with the arm. Additionally, Flores Jr. works quickly with both the bat and glove, registering a bat speed of 78.2 MPH and a hand speed of 23.7 MPH.

With success both at the plate and on the mound, Flores Jr. was selected as the CIFSS Ivy League-All League MVP while playing for Arlington High School.

Prep Baseball CA: Walk us through your Future Games highlights and assess your overall performance on the weekend.
Flores Jr.: I was one of the top hitters on our team. It was a lot of fun to be around that group, and it made playing an overall fun experience compared to a normal game. I really enjoyed it.

Prep Baseball CA: What was it like representing California and competing against Texas as well as Team NorCal?

Flores Jr.: Every teammate was equally talented, and that helped draw a lot of eyes from scouts. The competition was great. Facing 95 MPH in the first game was no small thing. I do not think there is better competition anywhere else than Future Games. That is as tough as it gets.

Prep Baseball CA: What advice would you give someone who will be at Future Games next summer? How did you deal with pressure?

Flores Jr.: The bigger it seems, the more you need to simplify it. Take it pitch by pitch. It is still the same bases and the same baseball. You are there to have fun and showcase yourself. Baseball is not everything in life, so keeping that mindset helped me. I did not have a fear of failure, and that helped me succeed.

Prep Baseball CA: What did it feel like stepping into LakePoint, getting your gear, and seeing the number of college coaches for the first time?

Flores Jr.: It was amazing. I attended Junior Future Games in eighth grade, so it brought back memories. My first time walking in back then, I saw Indiana, Cincinnati, and ECU. Walking in this past summer, it was Indiana, Cincinnati, ECU, and even more. Getting gear while a Division I coach walks by you is a very cool experience. It is real. If you want to get recruited, there is no better event to attend.

Prep Baseball CA: You are a two-time Future Games participant. How did this year compare to the first?

Flores Jr.: The first time, I let the pressure get to me. I did not perform as I wanted because seeing a packed stand full of scouts scared me. This time, I knew if I did what I needed and did not try to do too much, the game would reward me. The only big difference was that instead of scouts just sitting in the stands, they were standing too. There was no extra space anywhere. It was really fun to see and be a part of.

Prep Baseball CA: Since August 1st, what has the recruitment process looked like? How many coaches have reached out, and how has Future Games impacted that?

Flores Jr.: It has been crazy. I am blessed to play the game, but it has been overwhelming. Every school that reached out mentioned Future Games. I have had around 26 calls, and probably 24 of them were from schools that saw me there. That shows what Future Games does for a player. It gets you exposure and helps me a lot in my recruitment.

On September 29th, Flores Jr. took to social media to announce his commitment to Ole Miss.
Flores Jr., the No. 27 ranked player in the state in the Class of 2027, hopes to continue his success after a stellar performance at LakePoint into a strong junior season playing for a new school (Corona), and beyond at Ole Miss.
