Another standout performance on the day came from 2025 PBA commit Antonio Juarez Ponce. Ponce, standing 5-foot-11, 175-pounds, Ponce is most effective on the mound, where the left hander lived low 80s with some arm-side run. An up-tempo worker, he was able to mix in a SL/CB combo that played well off the CH. Offensively he wasn't a slouch, either, starting tall & working through the baseball and reaching a max velocity of 85.1. With time, Ponce can certainly develop into a quality arm in college.
9/24/24
Ponce showed athleticism from the start of the Central Alberta Sox Scout Day. His day started with a 6.96 60 yard dash and followed that up with one of the better rounds of BP. He used the entire field and showed feel for the barrel, with 6 of his 10 batted balls having an exit velocity over 90 mph, topping out at 94 mph. Twitch was evident as well, with a max bat speed of 71 mph. At 5-foot-11, 175-pounds, added strength will take him to the next level with athleticism already a stand out tool.
2/18/23
Juarez Ponce was another top performing 2025 at the event and it’s a wiry, athletic look at 5-foot-11, 156-pounds. Left-handed pitcher that sat 80-82mph during his bullpen and creates good extension for his size. Showed feel for the breaking ball with downward action and depth at 65-69mph. Intriguing underclass arm as he continues to develop and figure himself out on the mound.
Juarez Ponce flashed his potential at the dish with a couple loud swings from the left-side, generating a top exit velocity of 89.0mph and top distance of 300ft. Upside looks to be higher on the mound right now but he had a quality showing on both sides.
