The uncommitted 2024 RHP had one of the better innings during game play at the Scout Day. He won’t overpower you but nothing is straight when it comes to his repertoire. His fastball, which tops out at 83.6 mph, has 16 inches of horizontal break which generates lots of weak contact. His curveball averages 22.8 inches of horizontal break and has 8 inches of vertical depth. He also has the ability to spin the curveball at 2300+ rpm. The curveball profiles well as a future swing & miss offering. The changeup, at 73-75 mph, has late depth with an average vertical break of just 2.1 inches which allows it to play well off the fastball. Also has the ability to throw all 3 offerings for strikes and will be an interesting follow heading into the offseason.
Ryan was one of the better overall players at the Blues Scout Day. On the mound, he sat 82-84 with the FB that had plenty of arm side run to it. Pairing well with that fastball was his sweeping slider that came out of the same low ¾ arm slot. His changeup had lots of depth when located down in the zone which has the potential to be an effective swing & miss offering. At the dish, he swung with controlled aggression from the left side while maintaining a simple line drive approach. Ryan will be a 2024 to follow as the season continues.
