5-foot-8, 160-pound proportional frame. In the 60-yard dash, his time was 7.7. Started in an open stance with a controlled load, then used a leg kick before his swing. Has level swing plane and level finish. Found some barrels with loud contacts. Pull side approach. Goodwin's 89 mph exit velocity showed his ability to drive the ball with power. He recorded a position velocity of 64 mph during throw downs; shows consistent footwork and a fluid exchange. Has narrow setup. While catching, he produced a pop time of 2.39-2.44. Decent accuracy to the bases, used a high ¾ slot and a quick arm action.
The young (2023 grad) Goodwin showed some improvement from his previous event. The feet are even in the stance and he has a simple approach with the hands set fairly high. Showed a mostly pull side approach with repeated line drives from a fairly level swing plane. Really like the quick transfer behind the plate and throws to the bag were consistently on target. The arm strength will improve which will lower his pop times as he gets stronger and physically matures over the next few years.
One of the younger players at the event, Goodwin showed himself well. During OF drills he showed nice arm action for a young player and worked through his throws well. Behind the plate he showed solid blocking skills and nice flexibility in the hips. Was quiet receiving pitches with not a lot of movement. The pop times will decrease as the arm strength improves over the next few years. Throws were accurate to the bag. Offensively the feet started even and he showed a mostly pull side approach and has some strength in the hands. The bat path was mostly level, resulting in numerous line drives during BP. He was 83 mph exit velocity off a tee.
