6-foot-2, 220-pound physical frame. At the plate, the right-handed hitter's 94 mph exit velocity showed his ability to drive the ball with power. Started in a balanced stance with a quick load, then used a short stride just before his swing. Has explosive bat speed, upward swing plane and good extension on his finish. Produced loud contact during the round. Pull side approach. During the event, clocked a 60 time of 7.7. The bat has some serious thunder to the pull side.
Horton can play either corner infield position that may eventually wind up at 1B as the bat really impresses. Showed well with the feet, knowing when to drop step, at 3B and was consistent with throws across the infield. Nice job presenting the glove out in front and with the transfer. The barrel is loud at the plate as he once again took a loud round of BP. Big time pull juice from a slightly open stance and does a nice job of getting the lower half and the hands in a position to hit with power. There is definite tilt in the swing plane and the ball really jumps off the barrel.
The corner infielder had the loudest barrel on the day as he put on a power display during BP, leaving the yard multiple times. Showing definite pull side juice, he was also 94 mph exit velocity off the tee. Slightly open setup and a solid leg kick approach. The swing is well synched and he uses the lower half extremely well from a definite tilted swing path. No doubt, he can hit! Defensively, the big bat may be better suited at 1B at the next level but he shows solid set up with the glove and moves well enough to play 3B as well. An interesting ‘21 bat to follow.
Physical build (6’2 230 lbs.) on this 2021 grad. You would expect some pop and that is exactly what he showed. Slightly open stance and he did a nice job getting the hands back to launch his swing. There is serious juice from the lower half which translated to serious jump off the barrel. Showed a middle to pull approach with a definite tilt in the bat path. Solid skills at 3B that showed nice lateral movement and the ability to throw from different arm slots. Solid glove presentation and made it look simple.
