RHP Keaton Fuller (2021, Troy) got the start yesterday for the Pirates against a 7A Spain Park squad that had been swinging it well over the past few games. His start, however, did not get off to a great start in the first. He allowed four runs in the inning, while only one of those was earned. He struggled just a bit with command, missing to the arm side with the fastball, but soon locked in for the duration of the outing. Pumping 86-87, 89 in the first few innings, before settling into 85-86 mph in the later innings. His ball creates some run into right-handed hitters, jamming multiple hitters and inducing weak contact. His last pitch of the game was 87 mph. Coupled the fastball with a hard breaking ball at 76-77 mph with serious bite and present swing and miss capability. Live arm with a wiry, athletic 5-11, 160 pound frame. Displayed some elite competitiveness pitching out of trouble and going the distance (7 IP), striking out five in the process.
