7/10/19: Reeves put together a strong freshman campaign for the Crimson Tide, appearing in 48 games (starting in 39) and slashing .255/.394/.482 while swiping nine bags in ten attempts. The talented young outfielder is leading the way for a solid Wisconsin club this summer, slashing .346/.441/.641 through in 23 games, showcasing a quick-twitch swing with good bat speed and strong barrel acceleration through contact. There’s plenty of strength the drive the gaps and easy plus speed to help leg out extra bases, and Reeves has even flashed over-the-fence pop to the pull side. Strikeouts are a concern, as they were in the spring, with Reeves striking out in over a quarter of his plate appearances, due mostly to difficulties with off-speed and breaking stuff, but he also continues to show enough patience and zone control to project double-digit walk rates. He moves well in the outfield and has the physical tools to develop into an above-average defender. The pieces are here for Reeves to emerge as an impact talent at Alabama over the next two springs, and perhaps as early as this fall. His power/speed combination, as well as his ability to work a walk, should keep pro scouts interested. At present, he projects as a potential Day 2 talent in 2021. (Faleris)
