Johnson Community College Commit. Wilcox was given the go ahead to be the SP for the Pointers to start their tournament, and he did not disappoint. A physical 6-foot-3 frame, Wilcox gets his whole body into each pitch as he attacked 1-9. His FB had great ride and firmness to it as he threw it often at 86-89, touching 90 twice. His best breaker was a tight SL that darted away from RHH at 74-79 with great command. His two other offerings were a CH at 72-75 with some drop and a slow CB at 70-72 with depth. He only had one real mistake for a HR and his only ER, giving up 3 H (two bloops) across his 6 IP and 12 Ks. Wilcox screams confidence and poise as he was reliable to get outs in any count and any situation. At the plate in game 2 he did damage often. He hammered an outer pitch well over the RF wall for a solo shot, showing impressive hit ability. He also recorded a loud ground out at 96EV, hit right to the SS. To take the late lead in B6 he smoked a backside LD to the wall for a bases clearing 3B, securing the comeback W. An imposing arm on the bump and bat in the box showed high level 2-way ability in day 1.
