Delivery: Athletic down the mound with avg stride
Arm Action: LH. Over the top action with good intent on all pitches
FB: T85.1, 83-85 mph. 4 seam had some life. Kept ball down in the zone and on the corners T2190, 2126 average rpm.
CB: 69-73 mph. Heavy Strike pitch. with significant speed change off FB T1999, 1929 average rpm.
CH: 74-78 mph. Best out pitch, significant HM, kept down in the zone. T1833, 1764 average rpm.
6-foot, 190-pound, left-handed pitcher Carson Stoller was one of the stand out pitchers at this year’s Valley Open. With a physical build Stoller showed to be one of the more mature pitchers throughout the entire showcase. The LHP Stoller showed an over the top arm action with 3-pitch mix strike ability, and a FB that topped out at 85mph that spun at 2190. Stoller’s curveball ranged from 70-73 with 2000 spin. The Changeup looked to be his best out pitch, sitting 75-78 with 1800 spin and -22.2in of horizontal movement, Stoller keeps good hand speed with the pitch and is able to create some sink. If Stoller is able to work at the bottom of the zone this spring as he did on Saturday, it will give him the best chance for success. Stoller will be a high follow going into his senior season at SD OConnor.
Positional Profile: LHP/OF Above average movement to FB. Will be following through spring.
Body: 6-foot-0, 170-pounds.
Delivery: Has a quicker tempo to his delivery. Flows well, at times tempo speeds up and throws off the mechanics. When timing is good, command is good.
Arm Action: LH. Throws from a 3/4 slot. Arm speed is good with a consistent release point on all pitches.
FB: T84.2, 78.41-84.02 mph. FB comes out of the hand good and has some serious arm side action. Was around the zone, this pitch will miss barrels. T2203, 2103 average rpm.
CB: 63.67-66.00 mph. CB has some good downward break when he gets out front. Gets around the CB at times and it hangs. T1893, 1807 average rpm.
SL: 69.91-70.95 mph. Keeps the CH down in the zone. Arm speed is good and consistent with FB arm speed. Has some good horizontal break to it. T1843, 1683 average rpm.
