OF/2B Christopher Humpheys (Canyon Del Oro, 2024)
5-foot-9 145 pounds, compact build with strength throughout. Good athlete with some twitchy actions. Added size would benefit. (Running) 7.20 runner in the 60. Anticipate speed to increase over time. (Offense) LH. Max EV 96. Max Dist. 346. Athletic in set up, strong and simple starting position. Base outside of shoulder width and bend in the knees. Hands held above the shoulder with flat bat angle. Slight replace of the front foot with stride, almost a no stride approach. Does a great job staying grounded, hitting from a strong position, and keeping things simple. Gets the bat through the zone well, good bat speed, clean path, can shorten the stroke some. Handles balls out over the plate best, balls on the inner third he can get slightly rotational creating some top spin flight. Gap-to-gap XBH type bat with base running ability. (Defense) (OF) RH. OF velo 87. #2 OF velo at the event. Good athlete, ability to play all OF spots and 2B. Moves around the outfield well. Arm slot is short to long, delivers out front well. Ball has slight 2 seam action to it. Throws were kept low through the cut and in a spot to handle. Good long hops.
Game action: 0-4 K
Christopher Humphreys, Canyon del Oro (AZ), 2024
Positional Profile: SS/RHP Interesting player. Put together physically with some tools. With reps and refinement in swing mechanics could be a good player out of the 2024 class.
Body: 5-foot-9, 153-pounds. Physical build with strength in the lower half. Weight is proportionate in lower/upper body.
Defense: Athletic movements in the outfield. Feet are active, comes and gets the ball well.
Arm: R. INF - 80 mph. OF - 80 mph. Throws from a high 3/4 slot. Quick arm action. Throws were online with some carry.
Hit: L. Medium width with base, good posture. Square to pitcher, athletic bend in knees. Hands held slightly above the shoulder with bat parallel with ground. Back elbow raised slightly. Uses a small up and down stride. Slightly uphill bat path. Elbow dips down into slot early, little launchy. Works best when he lets the ball get deeper and gets extension through.
Run: 7.50 runner in the 60. Athletic runner, strong knee drive. Lost control halfway on 60, too much forward lean.
