Jack Lafflam is one of Arizona's top arms in the 2025 class. The right hander is the definition of "projectable" with the build and delivery. His 6-foot-4 frame and pitchability is impressive. Strike throwing with 3 pitches is there, and has shown flashes of an out pitch in the SL. Lafflam topped at 88 with the FB, and with added strength the velo should see a major bump over the years. In yesterday's outing, Lafflam got through 5 hitters at en efficient rate, and ran into some trouble with 2 outs in his 2nd inning. We will see him back at work on Saturday vs Team Canada.
Lanky build at 6-foot-5, 165-pounds. Clean arm action with some whip through a tall ¾’s delivery. Encouraging notes here are in the arm speed and hip/shoulder separation. Clearly a polished arm with a good feel for the strike zone with all three pitches (Slider, change-up). Fastball spin is very solid (2000-2300), but the slider spin is most exciting, averaging 2400+ spin and getting up to 2500. The slider has significant movement both laterally and vertically. The change-up is a good speed difference with good spin and movement. When the mass catches up to the frame, this arm will have a high ceiling.
