5-foot-9, 162-pound, medium frame, lean body, raw athleticism. Began in a tall active stance with a quick smooth load, then used a big leg kick just before his swing. Bat speed is above average, has long upward swing plane and high finish. He barreled up lots of balls with loud contact. Pull side approach. Crumpler had a max exit velocity of 88 mph. Athletic in the outfield, ran a 7.25 60-yard dash, showed the ability to make throws to the bases at 84 mph; had a clean exchange, athletic quick footwork and soft hands. Fields the ball to the side movements laterally were athletic. Consistent accuracy to the bag, used a ¾ slot with a loose arm action.
1/27/19 – 5’8 162-pound frame. Good athlete. Starts upright with bat on shoulder and feet together, slightly closed. Leg lift and barrel tilt at the same time, with bat coming off shoulder. Lands closed, creating a kickback, helping him maintain posture. Works behind the baseball early. Hands get low on contact, forcing the swing to be a little longer at times, creating timing inconsistency. Swings with intent. Exit velo at 86 MPH. Arm was 76 from the outfield using a pro step. Will need to eliminate a step or two to get rid of the ball quicker.
3/29/18 - Looks bigger than listed 5-foot-7, 145-pound frame with strong lower half. Most explosive prospect in attendance at the event. Fast-twitch athlete with bat speed; 7.44 60-yard dash. Lots of moving parts in swing that will need to be refined as he moves up the ladder. Tools are present to hit with significant juice. Hits from extremely narrow stance with leg-kick trigger. Needs to get started earlier, but when he’s on barrel drives the ball with authority. 86 mph exit velocity is impressive for 8thgrader and tops at event. Looks somewhat uncomfortable in the OF, fielding the ball with two hands, but shows arm strength (76 mph OF velo) without getting anything out of his lower half.
