The 2022 Washington commit continues to make improvements to his pitching, as not only has his mechanics cleaned up, but he also looks more physical with good weight added to his frame. Living in the 87-89 mph range on his fastball, Marshall drives to the plate well, staying closed and using his rear leg to sink and drive, releasing from a high ¾ slot and getting his ball to plane downhill into hitters. His curveball looked tighter, too, spinning it in the low 70s with some late break to it. The changeup was good, tumbling late into a right-handed hitter, and he was able to keep it down in the zone. Marshall is one of the best pitching prospects for the 2022 class out of Canada, and with continued development going into his draft year, Marshall could be a guy on the mound at the professional level.
At the plate, Marshall displayed some excellent pop, and it is clear he has strength and speed in the swing. Stayed wide with his legs, gets his hands back to a good spot, and gets excellent extension through the ball. Power to all fields and finds consistent barrels. As a 1st baseman, the arm plays at the corner, and his footwork is good around the base. Chase has been and will continue to be a top draft follow this year and following years after.
