Vertical Jump
A measure of any athlete's body strength and reach calculated from the flight time divided by the contact time.
Clague already boasts a number of offers from collegiate programs and shouldn’t be on the board much longer. The profile quickly stands out from the 6-foot-5, 195-pound left-hander and has steadily improved since we first had him on our Best of the West team in May of 2023. The fastball sat in the upper-80s throughout the summer and has begun inching into the low-90s coming out of the winter. The slider is the go-to secondary offering along with a developing changeup. Quick arm who’s stock is on the rise and will get several looks this spring from pro scouts on the West Coast.

One of the more dominant pitching performances at the Best of the West came from uncommitted 2024 Reid Clague. At 6-foot-5, 185-pounds his long levers create deception and a steep vertical approach angle. His fastball sat 87-89 mph and he struck out 9 over 4.1 hitless innings. Although he struggled a bit in his 2nd outing on short rest, the Canadian Junior National Team member is one of the most sought after arms in the country and will be a heavy follow as he enters his senior season.

Clague was an intriguing arm on the PBR Canada Selects that showed well in both of his relief appearances over the past two days. Projection on the mound from the left-side at 6-foot-3, 175-pounds, Clague gets downhill and lives at the bottom of the zone with his 84-86 mph FB with an over the top arm action with ability to spin the CB with downward action. There looks to be plenty more in the tank from Clague as he continues to get stronger. Good looking West Coast arm to keep tabs on.
