A fastball with rise has a high percentage of backspin. When thrown up in the zone, it is more likely to generate a higher fly ball percentage. Rise+ of 100 is MLB average
Slider

A hammer breaking ball drops vertically with velocity through the zone, or 12-to-6 movement. Hammer+ of 100 is MLB average.
Slider

This is our staff's second look at Larter over the last couple of months, a 2028 1B/LHP out of the UBC Thunder program. A growing 5-foot-8, 135-pounds, Larter had a strong overall showing on both sides of the ball. Offensively he's got minimal movement from the left side as he sets up to hit, starting his bat tall and his hands in a comfortable position, though he tends to cut himself off a touch in his stride. His hands don't move much and he's got a subtle load, allowing him to get on-time often to reach a peak exit velocity of 81mph, a carry distance of 250 feet while hitting the sweet spot at a 62% clip. With the glove he took quality reps at first base, appearing comfortable side to side and with his glove presentation. He reached a max velocity of 70 mph across the diamond. On the mound, Larter looks right. Pitching exclusively from the stretch, the lefty is a cross-body thrower from a short slot with a fastball living 73-74 mph, while playing off a slider he landed well at 62-63 mph. Another UBCer worth keeping an eye on as he grows into his body.
