A fastball with rise has a high percentage of backspin. When thrown up in the zone, it is more likely to generate a higher fly ball percentage. Rise+ of 100 is MLB average
One of my favorite left handed bats up here in the ‘25 class, he’s also pretty good on the mound too. Plaut had an unforgettable game last week hitting two home runs, one of those consisted of a grand slam. The senior lefty has a sweet swing, along with the ability to drive the ball the opposite gap, and go pullside. Every time I see Plaut he seems to do something that will affect the game in a positive manner. Defensively, Plaut is a very skilled first baseman with above average glovework, picking up some of his infielders on some plays throughout the game. Plaut ended his day going one for three at the plate, with an RBI double and also drew a walk. Reminds me of an old teammate I played with at Cal State Fullerton, his name was Dalton Blaser, lots of similarities between the two.
