Rock Canyon may have the best young middle infielder in the state with 2023 second baseman Brayden Duman and 2023 shortshop Chase Jaworsky. Duman is a left-handed hitter who shows great actions, great range and a good overall feel for the game. Great mechanical approach with strength still developing. Duman is a top of order type of hitter.
Positional Profile: 3B/OF
Body: 5-foot-11, 150-pounds
Run: 4.10 Home to first
Hit: Left-handed hitter who starts in a slightly open stance, about shoulder width. High leg-kick to stride, creates momentum to the ball. Maintains 60/40 weight distribution to back side. Hands at shoulder stacked and barrel parallel to ground. On load, barrel is upright and arm angles remain intact with very slight extension. Demonstrated ability to hit pitch at location and directional hitting. Path is downward with good to it, through it. Loses balance on occasion. Exit velocity of 77 mph.
Strong fundamentals and strength make Brayden a strong follow.
Power: Will hit for average.
Arm: 69 mph across the diamond with a short and quick arc on backside. Can gain velocity with extension on front side. Accurate and good feel.
Defense: Good pre-pitch set up and footwork. Good first step. Fields ball out front with momentum to throw. Very good potential.
Positional Profile: 3B
Body: 5-foot-11, 150-pounds
Run: 7.43
Hit: Left-handed hitter with noticeable +hands! Slightly open stance with sway to load. Controlled leg lift for stride and maintains stacked position at launch. Hands and bat head have movement...bat head level to angled. Path is direct to ball. Short to it and long through it. Middle of the field approach with some tendency to retract weight. Hands got inside fastball in! Exit velocity of 72. Good follow here!
Power: Refined swing demonstrates gap to gap hitter. Potential for power if he develops strength.
Arm: 74 mph across the diamond with quick arc on rear side of arm. Demonstrated accuracy and good feel for different arm angles up the middle
Defense: Great foot speed and athleticism. Good gather and transition to throw. Good momentum through fielding position into throw. Will benefit as he refines and sharpens skill set as a middle infielder.
