University of Northern Colorado commit 2019 LHP Iain Isdale came in for the seventh inning to strike out two of the three batters he faced using a firm fastball and a quality over the top breaking ball. Isdale is a tough plate appearance with a deceptive delivery and a fastball that either cuts or sinks at 85-85 mph. Isdale on the year is 2-0 with a 1.07 ERA. In 20 innings pitched he has struck out 27 batters.
2-25-18
6-foot-4, 170-pound LHP/OF. Tall lefty on the mound with a high leg kick and short landing. Arm is short and has a slight hitch on delivery. Threw from the stretch only with a tall and fall motion. Arm is high ¾ with consistent speed on all pitches. Fastball was 80-81 mph with late arm side run. Curve showed sweeping 1/7 break and sat 64-66. Change was his best secondary pitch, arm stay near fastball speed, ball showed late sink and was 73-75 mph.
1-29-17
6-foot-4, 167 pounds. Bats right throws left. Lanky, wiry frame. Could be scary if 25 pounds added. Pitched entirely out of stretch. Hides ball well. Short on back side then comes from over the top. Arm is loose and quick. Good extension to the plate. Inline then spins off a little on land towards 3rd. Fastball sat 81-83. Curveball and change thrown at same arm speed as fastball. Both were 68-69 mph. Curveball was 12/6. Change tailed into left handed hitter. Player to follow in 2019 class.
