Committed to Central Arizona. Currently ranked No. 70 in the 2015 class. Pitches from the stretch. Arm action is short going back and comes through at a high 3/4 arm slot. Hides the ball well. Lands in-line to plate then falls off to first base. Through 4 innings fastball was consistently 85-86 mph. Attacks the strike zone. When Douglas County took the lead 3-2 in the bottom of the 3rd Montoya came out in the top of the 4th and had a 6 pitch inning to put a dagger in Fort Collins. Curve ball lived between 71-73 mph. At the plate Montoya hits from a slight crouch and slightly open stance. Strong lower half helps produce power. Slight upward swing. Was offensive star of the game. Had 3 hits including a 2-Run Home run to deep center field.
