Began in a balanced quiet stance with a controlled load, then used a small leg kick. Bat speed is efficient, shows a simple upward swing plane and high finish. Recorded a 60 time of 7.45 at the event.
5-foot-6, 146-pound athletic, solid frame, good strength for his age and size. Above average at the plate, Leyva recorded an exit velocity of 87 mph. Started in a balanced athletic stance with a smooth small load, then used a short stride. Had explosive bat speed,upward swing plane and high finish. He barreled up multiple balls with a lot of loud contact. Gap to gap approach. Above average while in the infield, made throws at velocities up to 72 mph; showed a twitchy exchange, smooth feet, and soft hands. Fields the ball out front,movements laterally were athletic. Showed a loose arm action and a ¾ slot with consistent accuracy to the bag. Above average on the mound, had a ¾ arm angle and a loose arm action with quick arm speed. Up-tempo type pitcher who uses some effort. Showed strong balance point and even shoulders. Lands square with an athletic finish. Sat with his fastball at 67-72 mph; shows sinking action and arm side control. His changeup 61-63 mph;shows fading action and consistent control. Love the feel and pitch ability off the mound.
