5-foot-11, 140 pounds, thin, wiry, athletic frame. His shoulders are slightly sloped. Adding strength will be key in his development.  Ran a 4.44 home-to-first. A left handed hitter, Budzik’s swing is simple without much pre-pitch movement. His feet setup shoulder width in the box and he stands upright. He takes a short step to the ball with his hands working slightly below the shoulders. The swing is mostly level, tailored to put the ball in play with line drives. His exit velocity off the tee was clocked at 79 mph. There is not much current power in his offensive profile, though more is likely on the way as he gets stronger. Showed the ability to make quality contact in game play. Defense is Budzik’s best skill, with clean, fluid actions from shortstop. He moves well laterally with solid footwork. He has soft hands with a quick transfer, adept at turning double plays. Made an impressive pick heading to his left up the middle during the games. Throws from a ¾ slot and was clocked at 79 mph. This should improve as he adds arm strength. Overall, Budzik was an impressive performer during gameplay, getting on base and playing high quality defense. A high follow heading into the fall.
