(22.39 mph hand speed average). Begins in a tall balanced stance with a quick load, then uses a short controlled stride. Bat speed is electric, has a short swing plane and good extension on his finish. During his round he produced a lot of loud contact and found multiple barrels. Gap to gap approach. While catching, his strong arm produced efficient throws to second at velocities up to 83 mph; shows next level consistent hands, a quick natural transfer, and athletic feet. displayed next-level catching ability by boasting a 1.93-2.01 pop time. Athletic setup with tons of flexibility. Consistent accuracy to the bag, used a ¾ slot with a short arm action. Clocked a time of 7.28 in the 60-yard dash.
The uncommitted, 6-1 180 pound catcher for FTB Rockets 16u is a player to watch. Behind the plate he possesses a plus arm. His footwork and hands are phenomenal for a player his age. He is a game changer on defense. Against Florida Burn he threw out three runners, two at second and one at first. He popped a 1.9 twice to nab the runners at second base. At the plate, he has a very simple and compact swing.
10/20/18 - Currently stands at 6-foot-1, 185 pounds with a strong, athletic frame. Displayed above average bat speed with a level path through the zone. Ball jumps off the bat and creates hard, solid contact. During his first at-bat he turned on a fastball and drove it down the left field line for an RBI double. He then followed his first at-bat up with a loud sacrifice fly to straightaway centerfield. Fawley already shows confidence at the plate and will be a strong bat to follow, especially as he continues to strengthen his frame.
