He has a chance to be the next great outfielder at Texas. Kennedy, a 5-foot-11, 200-pounder, has drawn some comparisons to big leaguer Brett Gardner for good reason. Kennedy put together a strong freshman season for the Longhorns, hitting .310 with eight doubles, three triples, two home runs and 28 RBIs before following that up with a strong summer with Santa Barbara, where he hit .355. Kennedy doesn’t have big-time power, but he does have some sneaky pop at times. He also can hit the ball to all fields and executes the small game well from the left side. He also has a tendency to put a lot of pressure on opposing infielders with his blazing, 65-grade speed. Kennedy is already a successful hitter with a good approach, and the power will likely continue to come as he puts in more time in the weight room. Kennedy has big-time speed in the outfield, but his arm is below average and defensive instincts could us improvement. He’ll be a fascinating and fun player to watch this fall, and certainly in the spring.
03/07/18- Texas recruit. Currently stands at 6-foot-1, 195 pounds with a physical, athletic frame and a strong lower half. Short, quick swing from the left side and is aggressive in the box. Slight uphill path on his follow through allows him to drive the ball into the gaps with intent. Began the game with an inside the park home run after he roped a ball into the left-center field gap. Above average runner who gets good jumps, takes strong turns, and is aggressive on the base paths.
10/15/17- Texas recruit. From the outfield shows a quick first step and an aggressive approach to the ball. Fields it out in front and under control with an accurate throw to the bag. At the plate holds his hands close to is chest and despite no load, has a short, quick swing from the left side that generates above average bat speed and the ability to find consistent contact in the zone. Had a couple hits over the weekend which included a double into the left-center field gap and a line drive single up the middle during gameplay. A lot of twitchy actions, you’d like to see more separation in the swing but he’s athletic and shows present bat to ball skill.s 4.36 on a turn.
06/28/17- Committed to the University of Texas.
05/10/17 - Alabama recruit. Currently ranked No. 90 in the Florida 2018 Class. Currently stands at 6-foot-1, 190 pounds with a strong, solid, athletic frame. At the plate from the left side he shows good balance in the box with a confident approach. Above average bat speed with a level path through the zone, slightly uphill on his follow through. Makes consistent contact, displays good hand-eye coordination, and takes smart at-bats. Uses all of the plate, and can drive the ball into the gaps. Strong leadoff hitter, consistently finds a way to get on base. Gets out of the box with intent, looks to be aggressive on the base paths.
