USA CNT: In a surprising cut from the 31-man roster, Evan Chrest (2025, Jacksonville) was polished beyond his years showing high level pitchability with an athletic delivery. The 6-foot, 170-pound righthander showed advanced feel for three pitches, carving his way through the trials with well-located 90-93 mph, a low-80s slider and changeup for strikes in any count. He worked quickly and efficiently, facing the minimum over two innings and 19 total pitches. At this point his physical size may limit his draft value, but with two years before he’s eligible, Chrest has plenty of time to add size, strength and velocity to what is already Day One pitchability.
Jacksonville Commit, 5-foot-11, 160-pound athletic frame. Above average on the mound, had a ¾ arm angle and a long arm action with quick arm speed. Drop-and-drive type pitcher who uses easy effort. Showed athletic balance point and even shoulders. Lands square with a falling off finish. Produced a fastball that came in at 88-90 mph; showed late running action and both sides of the plate command with heavy movement. (Max spin 2453; Avg 2342). He showed late fading action and control around the zone on his sharp changeup (81-82). Throws a tight slider (76-79) that has down in the zone command and swing and miss action. (Max spin 3134; Avg 3015).
