Murphy is a tall and lean 6-foot-2, 165 pound two-way player with long legs. At first base, he showed average hands with a feel for the bag and an average arm across the diamond. At the plate, he starts tall with a slightly open stance. He has a level swing with stiff hands and average bat speed.
