10/16/16- South Florida recruit. The 6-foot-4, 200 pound right handed pitcher has your prototypical pitcher frame. From a high ¾ slot he has a quick arm that creates some late life on the fastball. The fastball tended to flatten out at time and worked from 85-88 mph. He also showed a changeup at 74 mph and most impressively a plus slider at 76-77 mph with hard late breaking action. The arm and frame work and should make a jump in velocity. If he makes that jump, with the present plus slider he will be a very interesting prospect.

6/13/16- Uncommitted, the 6-foot-3 195-pound right handed pitcher was one of the best uncommitted arms this weekend. Holmes’ fastball was 84-87 mph for all seven innings commanding the pitch to both sides of the plate. Holmes’ breaking ball was 78-79 showing depth while being able to command the pitch to both sides of the plate. The change up ranged from 77-78 mph and was a very good straight change up which he commanded well and maintained the same arm speed as his fastball.
12/14/14 - Tall loose lean projectable body with loose easy working arm and a H3/4 slot. FB was 81-82 mph. SL was a short tight downer at 70-71 mph. CV was 65-66 mph. CHG was 67-68. Very projectable arm.
The 6-foot-3 180 lb. Holmes had a great showing at the North Florida Prospect ID. On the mound, Holmes’ max FB was at 84 with a 71 mph curveball. Holmes effectively throws down plane with a loose, high ¾ arm slot. At the plate, Holmes showed power and pulled a lot of baseballs during his BP session. With a short stride and fluid rhythm, Holmes’ swing plane stayed in the zone.
