Jones would toe the rubber to open bracket play for “Ninth Inning” and delivered with a dominant start. As he would go on to strike out seven across 5.0 IP in a win to advance to the semi-finals. Lean and athletic, Jones deploys a loose and easy operation on the bump with repeatability and present arm speed. Fastball lived 85-87 (T88) with arm-side run and feel to land to either half of the plate. Jones showed advanced feel of his slider at 68-70 with sharp movement and some feel to manipulate for swing-and-miss. Changeup was worked in occasionally with the ability to land R/R with tumble at 76. Velocity continues to tick up for Jones as there is plenty of projection remaining throughout the frame/profile. The incoming sophomore has shown well on the mound this summer and appears ready for a breakout season with the Jaguars come next spring.
