Positional Profile: 2B/SS Some of the more advanced offensive intangibles in the state.
Body: 5-9, 175-pounds. Stocky frame, proportional with athleticism.
Hits: RHH. Balanced, strong stance with a high back elbow, weight distributed evenly helps trigger load. One of the cleanest forward moves in the state. Downward action in swing with good barrel lag, direct hip rotation, and shoots liners all over the diamond with power developing
Power: 90 max exit velocity, averaged 83.6 MPH. 328' max distance. Mixture of backspin and top spin to all fields.
Arm: RH. INF-81 mph.short AA with a H3Q slot
Defense: will become lighter on his feet with further maturity, good reads on short hops
Run: 7.35 runner in the 60.
GA Preseason All State
one of the most advanced bats in the class continues to go under the radar due to lack of physicality, but I promise you this is a D1 bat. This is a player who has one of the best swings, approach, and some of the best pitch recognition in the state. It’s wild how a guy like that can stay so under the radar considering pitch recognition is one of the biggest keys of hitting and you can’t hit consistently at the games highest levels without it. Uggla’s ability to work himself into advantageous counts and hit the ball where it’s pitched are on another level, and few in the class are able to decelerate to get on time with breaking balls like him. He might not be the most noticeable prospect now, but if you dig a little deeper this guy has a better chance at being a complete hitter in college than a majority of his class. 90 EV, 81 INF, 7.3 60 (1.75 10 yd).
Underclass Games - Infield Analysis
Positional Profile: 2B/3B Top or middle of the order bat with elite ability to decelerate/accelerate at the plate, very good approach and plate discipline. Going to take off as he adds strength.
Body: 5-foot-9, 170-pounds. Medium frame w/ broad shoulders. Strong lower half, plenty of room to fill out.
Hit: RHH. Medium base just outside shoulders. knees inside feet. Slow, repeatable waggle in bat just off ear. Hips rock back, picking up the foot for him. Creates a center of balance & keeps head still for forward move. Signals hands to work near slot, as part 1 of a 2 part load that happens in one smooth flow. Perfect hip/shoulder separation timing in forward move, hands move effortlessly in & out of slot. Repeats launch & matches plane very well, knob led path with barrel angle just before contact ridiculous barrel acceleration. Top hand palm up thru contact. Manipulates barrel on north/south pitch location as well as east/west.
Power: 89.6 max exit velocity, averaged 84.9 mph. 299’ max distance. Standout bat speed for size, heavy hands thru contact. All fields hitter who consistently backspins baseball. Raw power coming.
Arm: RH. INF - 78 mph. w/ smooth short circle AA, creates carry on throws.
Defense: Solid footwork and instincts play up range. Very consistent, quiet push thru the baseball that stops bad hops in their tracks. Quick exchange for age, throws from all angles depending on scenario.
Run: 7.34 runner in the 60.
