John Dickerson, Lassiter (GA), 2024
Positional Profile: 3B/SS
Body: 6-0, 165-pounds.
Hit: SH. Switch hitter with similar open setups from both sides. Hits off of a strong front side, quick inside out swing. 71.5 mph bat speed with 10 G's of rotational acceleration.
Power: 87 max exit velocity, averaged 82.6 mph. 305' max distance.
Arm: RH. INF-84 mph. Quick, athletic action. Can throw it from any angle.
Defense: Athletic mover. Hop in his step. Moves well side to side with soft hands.
ATH: 7.11 runner in the 60. 1.78 and 4.02 in the 10 and 30 yard splits.
Uncommitted. 6-foot, 165 pounds. While he’s essentially the 2nd leadoff hitter down in the order for the Trojans, this is a player who could leadoff for most teams in the state. His baseball IQ, pitch recognition, and confidence really stand out at the plate. He understands what opposing arms are trying to do to him, and uses it to his advantage often. Dickerson is just as likely to get a 1st pitch barrel in the gap as he is to work a 10 pitch AB and wear a pitcher down. This is a player who truly believes he can hit anybody, and I have no doubt he’d step in vs a pro arm without any fear. This is one of the least talked about characteristics in a hitter, fearlessness. The ability to attack big velocity without hesitation, and to remain confident even after failing. John doesn’t fail often now, but as many know the game only gets more difficult the further you go. Not only does he have swagger, but he has high level swing mechanics from both sides. They’re nearly identical, the mark of a good athlete. He’s got an all fields approach and takes what opposing arms give him, producing consistent hard contact with backspin. This will be a very interesting follow throughout 2023.
Positional Profile: 3B/SS
Body: 6-0, 165-pounds. Medium frame, proportional build.
Hits: SH. Smooth, well balanced and sequenced swing from both sides. Lower hald more dynamic from right side. Good flow in hands, low effort actions due to smooth pace timing. Repeats launch position well from both sides. Diagonal plane+shoulder rotation during separation create nice loft post landing and allow him to match plane with ease.
Power: 81 max exit velocity, averaged 70.5 MPH. 288' max distance. Right side - hard hit topper line drives pull side. Left side - gap to gap spray.
Arm: RH. INF-79 mph.Clean, full circle arm action 3/4 slot.
Defense: Some of the better footwork in the event in IF. Very good feel for forehand+backhand. Plays low, subtle push thru ball, anticipation for ball. Solid, consistent exchange.
Run: 7.39 runner in the 60.
