Florida A&M commit. Powerful cut with tons of torque and leverage. Showcased the hitting tool all tournament with nearly every at-bat. Had his best performance on Monday morning, as he went 2-for-3 / 2-HR’s / 3-RBI’s. Fortson also had a tremendous catch in left field at the wall to save a run that ended the inning. Great ability to adjust to off-speed while also matching timing with the high heat. Extremely confident in the box. Disciplined eye at the plate. Swings with an intent and a purpose, generates tons of back spin and gets good carry on all fly-balls.

Body: 6-foot-0, 200-pounds. Proportional build, strength throughout frame, broad shoulders
Hit: RHH. Balanced setup, hands drop and deepen on load, short stride, at-times will get his lower half through contact, finishes over the plate. Gap-to-gap type hitter, quick, athletic hands, barrel works uphill through the zone as he looks to elevate, generates hard contact, inconsistent timing.
Power: 92 mph exit velocity from the tee. Big power potential.
Arm: RH. INF - 69 mph. OF - 75 mph. Long arm action to a 3/4 slot, rotational, some pie action.
Defense: Plays through the ball in the outfield, clean footwork, fluid transfers. On the infield, keeps the ball in front as he lets it come to him, fields deep, clean footwork.
Run: 7.61 runner in the 60.
