Araujo-Waiau consistently scores amongst the top in power bat categories: Trackman Max Distance (#6), Blast Hand Speed (#7) and Blast Bat Speed (#8). Arm strength is arguably Araujo-Waiau’s best tool with 89 INF velo and 78 catcher velo. Value goes way up in the eyes of MLB scouts if Araujo-Waiau can catch, posting an impressive 1.92 pop-time with little experience behind plate. Has all the pieces for plus value w/bat & in field, and that's at 3B where he's really good, add catch & value skyrockets...first time ever trying behind plate w/throw-downs, 1.89-1.97, did it easy considering first time, in front of 60 players watching closely, as last C to throw down to 2B, all knowing he doesn't catch...shows a lot about makeup & toughness, wasn't afraid & moment was far from too big, performed = plus defense as a C is a real possibility...love the bat, pwr hitter w/compact swing, got some feel for hitting & obvious future plus, maybe better pwr...#3 ranked Hawaii 2025...premium local boy commit for U Hawaii Baseball, on MLB scout radar soon & potential 2025 MLB draft.
